Welp, we’re back to a tie in the AL East.

  • Tonight’s pitching was terrible. David Phelps gave up 5 runs, 4 in the first inning, through just 4.0 IP. He set a terrible tone for tonight’s game.
  • Joba Chamberlain came in relief and allowed just one hit, though it was a homerun to designated stupid-face/poopy-head Mark Reynolds.
  • By the top of the 8th, the Yankees were down 6-1 to the Orioles. The Yankees found a way to bat around, and it all accumulated in a huge bases loaded 2 out hit from Ichiro Suzuki that tied the game. Hold crap, the slumping Yankees made a huge 5 run comeback!
  • Then David Robertson happened. He immediately allowed an Adam Jones homerun on a cutter down the middle. Then he allowed Matt Wieters to single, which was followed by yet another Mark Reynolds homerun. That’s 3 2-homerun games from Reynolds over the last 4 games against the Yankees. I hate this guy.
  • Boone Logan also pitched, he gave up a solo homerun right after Reynold’s second shot, on the first pitch that Chris David saw, and the only pitch the LOOGY threw.
  • Yankees didn’t do much in the 9th besides a strong Nick Swisher at bat, a single from Robinson Cano, but then another caught line drive off Alex Rodriguez. Eric Chavez struckout to end the game.
  • The pitching might have been terrible, but the offense certainly wasn’t. They drew a total of 6 walks tonight, and accumulated 10 hits. They would have scored a lot more if they didn’t hit 3 double plays and smash quite a few line drive outs.

Sorry for the bullet points, but tonight was a tough pill to swallow after such a promising 8th inning comeback. Vent here.

What I saw tonight was an absolute disgrace. The Yankees have been playing horrible baseball lately and have shown ZERO signs of urgency lately. Hal Steinbrenner said recently that Brian Cashman and Joe Girardi are not in danger of losing their jobs despite this collapse. That’s fine and all, but don’t be surprised if that tone suddenly changes if we get to the final week of the season and the Yanks find themselves in the middle of the pack.

Look. If we win the next three games, this game can be forgotten.

I have no faith in Phil Hughes tomorrow, but stranger things have happened.

    My heart hurts right now.

Tough loss. It was encouraging to see the offense show signs of life and not give up on the game, but D-Rob’s blowup was devastating. Oh well, on to tomorrow, hopefully they can build on the positive momentum from the offense.

I like to look at the bright side….at least they didn’t ground into 4 double plays.

Has Reynolds been on his butt at all during any of the recent at bats? A brushback now and then, even if it doesn’t stem the tsunami of HRs, would at least send a message to the rest of the team that there may be some fight left in someone. I was happy to hear of Steinbrenner’s vote of confidence for Girardi and Cashman, as such utterings by owners usually precede firings, and the Yankees need to clean house from top to bottom, as Boston is doing after their own 10-game lead collapse last year. (With Hughes pitching batting practice tonight, Reynolds may tie Mattingly’s and Long’s record for 10 HRs in 8 straight games.)

Came upon this site in error, but oh how much fun it is to read such agony and whining. All because my team, the Baltimore Orioles, are turning up the heat on the fattest team money has bought! HAHAHAHAHAHA!!
    GO BIRDS!
