11-pitch first for Sabathia.
Nice.
Cano made that inning.
I hope the Yanks make the Little Gulps choke on their own Mini Sodas.
Love it that C-Dick is playing! Still waiting for a Gardy sighting.
There’s no upside to this game. If they win, well, they should have swept. If they lose, they suck eggs right out of the chickens.
I don’t know if folks have realized it, but in his last three starts Hughes has only given up 1 HR!
Pitching in tough parks for home runs, no? Minnesota and Oakland, right?
They played in Oakland in July, right?
Yeah, you’re right. He gave up no homers in Minnesota and Fenway. That’s pretty good.
Considering his history in Fenway, I was stll thrilled with his game if even it was against the Red Sox AAA team ;)
I never like injuries, Yankees or otherwise.
I missed that. What happened?
Nothing obvious. Had some sort of eye trouble.
OK. I’m impressed with Gardenhire. I mean how many managers can sit in the dugout and notice a pitcher has left eye irritation?
coulda, woulda, shoulda…..shut up Kay!
So far it looks all of the highlights at 1st base are by Cano.
Damn, Little Gulps strike first!
Steal!
C-Dick hit. Now C-Dick run!
Double steal!
Bases loaded….
Looked misplayed live, but hard to tell on the replay.
Either way, Robbie comes through.
Robbie comes through!!
Yee Haa!
Ans Swish still hot!
Come on, get that 4th run in.
Jane: See Dick score!
Grandy X 3!
That was either a horrible throw or horrible cut-off coverage.
Granderson gets an RBI hit that isn’t a solo home run. Love to see that.
Wild pitches couldn’t drag me away
Wild, wild Wild pitches couldn’t drag me away
Wild pitches couldn’t drag me away
Wild, wild pitches, we’ll ride them some day
Thanks Mick & Keith
Well that move worked out well for Gardenhire. The best laid plans of Mice & Managers.
Steinbeck is a little higher brow than Mick & Keith
Michael Kay said it was bad for the Yankees because now they had lefty hitters in against a lefty pitcher.
That’s Kay. Always certain and often wrong.
Nice shut down inning by CC!
He looks good. But he has a tendency to lose it all of a sudden every once in a while.
Not today. He better not. If he does he’ll have to face my wrath.
That would make me tremble.
Bats gone quite. It also seems like the Yankees think they have enough runs.
Can’t score 6 runs every inning. They get a pass through the 7th.
Six runs every 3rd inning would be sweet!
Chavez!!
Brain fart!
Do you think Miggy will win the triple crown and lose the MVP vote?
I don’t think he’ll win the triple crown. But if he does, I think, yeah, Trout would still be the favorite.
I think Trout should win. Not even close in WAR. A few days ago Trout 10.1, Cano 6.8, Miggy 6.4.
Yeah, but a lot of that is defense, and defensive WAR isn’t accurate over one year.
True. But by any standard Trout is a MUCH better defender than Miggy. And his speed!
I wouldn’t argue against Trout. But it’s really hard to quantify.
C-Dick trot!!!
Dickerson!
If CC shuts them down the next 2 innings I wonder if we’ll see Aardvark, Aardsma, whatever his name is.
That would be a good idea. We need to see what he has.
Damn, in hockey that would have been a great kick save.
Don’t know about you, but I’m REALLY glad that baseball isn’t hockey.
Don’t you like lock outs that totally disregard the fans? How about replacement umps? Wouldn’t that be fun?
There were replacement umps at some point. The 70s?
I looked it up. Replacement umps in 1979, from opening day until May 18.
I remember them being used, but had no idea when.
Who’s coming in for the 9th?
Is the Orioles game on tonight on MLB or ESPN or somewhere other than extra innings?
No. ESPN is carry A’s v. Rangers.
Boo! I’ll have to listen to the bird feed.
Strange afternoon, with no other games I’ve missed scoreboard watching!
You can watch tonight.
Fortunately, it was a nice win, so the scoreboard watching wasn’t needed to balance out a crushing loss.
I’ll prolly watch a DVD!
Aardvark! Aardvark!
There’s one that lives along a path that Katie walks. If I ask her if she’s seen Army the Aardvark she gets all excited and starts looking around for him.
From oedilf.com:
A ‘vark and a ‘wolf met a bard,
And eagerly said to him, “Pard,
Won’t you use us next time
That you make up a rhyme?”
“I can’t,” he replied, “You’re two aard.”
lol
aardvark, aardwolf by alkahuna (Alan Turniansky)
What? Eppley Believe It or Not? I don’t.
Disappointing.
It’s downright unimaginable. I guess Girardi & Cashman do not consider The Aardvark as a potential contributor.
A Gardy sighting!
Game Ovah!!! Two game lead with 7 to go!
Chat at ya tomorrow Professor!
