Mark Teixeira has been suffering from an inflamed airway for the better part of a month. Clay Rapada has been suffering from a virus for the past three or four days, leading to his being helped off the field last night. Ivan Nova left last night’s start with an ankle contusion and sprain. And David Robertson has been placed on the disabled list with a strained oblique.

This spate of injuries is apparently system-wide, as well, as Jose Campos has yet to make a start this month (having left his last start in April with elbow soreness/tenderness), Graham Stoneburner was recently placed on the DL with a groin injury, Rob Lyerly had labrum surgery (and will miss the remainder of the season), and Pat Venditte has missed the past two-plus weeks with some sort of malady.

Would anyone else be willing to trade a win for some relative health and durability?

Onto the line-ups:

It sure sounds scary that Wade & Logan will likely get most of the 7th & 8th innings. However, they have the potential to do a decent job until Robertson returns. On the one hand I’d hate to see Phelps used for only one inning at a time, but if Garcia has the long / mop up role, why not let Phelps pitch both the 7th & 8th on occasion. And if there is a big enough lead, let him go 3 innings and save using the other relievers.

    With Granderson’s HR, Yanks now 2 for 23 w/RISP last 3 games.

  4. Phil C says:

Thank God Stewart a defensive catcher. Although he is hitting better than Martin. I think we need Cervelli back. (tic)

Come on, get the tying run on.

After that game they should flee the country. Oh yeah, they play in Toronto next. Later Professor!
