Posada's Back!
Jorge Posada will be activated tomorrow, further lengthening an already formidable lineup. He also provides some versatility options for Joe G. at a temporarily thin DH position. The Yankees could go with this lineup tomorrow:
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Posada C
Cano 2B
Matsui DH
Swisher RF
Gardner CF
or, since opposing starter, Cliff Lee is a lefty, we could very see the lefty Matsui sit for Jorge at DH and the hot Cervelli, a righty, getting the nod behind the plater:
Jeter SS
Damon LF
Teixeira 1B
Rodriguez 3B
Posada DH
Cano 2B
Swisher RF
Prizzi’s Honor full movie
Cervelli C
Gardner CF
A soon-to-return Nady and Melky will add many more options. What do you guys think are the ideal lineups vs. righties & lefties?

Be careful about DHing Posada. If Jorge DH’s and the starting Catcher gets hurt, you’d have to move Jorge to play Catcher and that would mean you have top fill the DH with the pitcher. That’s the rule. If you vacate the DH, it can only be filled with the pitcher.
So if you’re going to DH Posada, then you should also carry 3 catchers.
Yeah, that happened with the Twins today with Mauer DH’ing.
I think that it is time for Posada to be the DH, and Cervelli needs to be the main starting catcher. As long as he can hit around .270 or .280, his defense is much better than Posada’s and the pitching staff loves having him call the games. Matsui, I believe, is just about done. Also, when Melky comes back, he should be put in right, and Gardner and Damon should round out the outfield, with Swisher being a backup. Girardi will have to make some decisions when Nady comes back.
I wouldn’t give up on Swisher that quickly.Guy carried this team for a month.I’m not giving up on him hitting .250 with 25 dingers and he gets on base and plays a pretty good OF to boot.
Gardner appears OT BE A GUY WHO WILL GO 0-4 OR 3-4 not haivngt palyed for a few days and I odubt Swisher can do the same.
I hate what they’ve done to Gardner with the ultra wide stance and no stride. He was driving the ball in Spring training until they made that change with him.Now half the time it’s a weak pop up and aside from that one day, he rarely hits it hard.
LAst year when he came back he was hitting the ball hard.IMO this is a case where the batting COach has ruined a kid with a preconceived notion as to how he should hit.
WHen he got away from him and went back down, he immediately returned aND hit.nOW HE’S BEEN CHANGED AND imo ruined.
Why not let Ribbie grow up and bat him 5th. The man is hitting .320 with 28 RBI. And when he is going really well, pitchers will not pitch around Alex. A hot Cano is much better than a hot Posada, even though Posada is the more steady hitter. You also effectively break up the two lefties if Robbis hits 5th. I feel that it is time.
I just can’t see Cervelli hitting enough to justify this.
I’d rather have Cervelli on the bench than Molina, but I think Girardi wants a vet on the bench. I think he’d be catching often enough (2-3 times a week) to justify keeping a younger player in a reserve role.
