Well, I guess this is the biggest game of the post-sesaon so far. I hope Oki-san has his John Deere machine out tonight. I would not feel comfortable with Hughes pitching an elimination game.
Cano, Swish, & Granderson are all hit less again Gonzalez, so it looks like the other 6 guys in the lineup will have to make significant contributions. Although I wouldn’t be surprised to see Cano remedy that problem.
If the choice is between those 3 I would say thats a safe bet
Of course, my having typed that means it’ll be Granderson or Swisher!
“They” say everything’s different in the post-season. The one thing I hope is different is the run support the Yanks give Oki-san.
Loved seeing Cano keep that tag on McLouth!
Uneventful bottom of 1st.
Chavez hits Gonzalez.
I want more than that! I want ALL of them to hit him.
Oh, and then also hit the relievers.
Swiah breaks his drought. Now get him in!
I’m feeling very negative. It would be nice if the Yankees positived me up a bit.
They just seem to hate scoring runs for Oki-san. Maybe Oki-san’s pitching can get you positivized.
I doubt it. A 0-0 game through 14 is not going to make me feel great.
If that doesn’t work, go stand near a very powerful magnet.
Six up, 6 down…Gonzalez does not look so great and yet…..
DAMN!!!!
A guy I never heard of goes deep.
He did have 6 HR’s in 153 ABs, That shows some power. But that slider didn’t break very much and while it was down it was in the middle of the plate.
Grandy looks worse than the Rod. At least a productive out by Chavez….I know jeter won’t get a hit but maybe a pass ball can get a run in.
That helped!
WOW!!!! That’s more like it!
Looked like it was catchable, but a bad read.
I ain’t a complainin’.
WOW, never more happy to be wrong, but Jones did not read that ball.
Come on Itchy!
best bubble by a center fielder!
lol
Adam Jones blew a bubble while running after the triple.
Kuroda’s not sharp. Better get Phleps up.
good to have precaution, but Kuroda has pretty sharp breaks tonight. Maybe it’s a command problem, and might want to wait. – oo, bang- bases loaded .
This has just become too interesting for my tastes, lets go double play.
2 out, 1 to go and we are out of a jam
Damn. Reynolds was a great chance for a K.
Yes, get Phelps ready.
Phew.
Well at least the inning ended well!
Yankees will break thru now, I pray.
Yes, let them prey on Oreo pitching.
trouble finding the cream in between.
Get the Halloween one’s, maybe the pumpkin color is easier to see.
I have the same problem with Rodriguez I had in last year’s playoffs: he isn’t healthy.
During 162 game season I can see continuing to play him. But this is a 3 game season. He should be benched.
Overall, he hasn’t sucked: 112 OPS+ But since coming back from the DL, he’s hit .261/.341/.369. That’s blah.
And in this series he’s been south of Blah.
the 2nd pitch to the Rod was right down the middle….if he is looking for a pitch to hit…..how can you possibly get a better pitch than that? And another pathetic AB for the Rod.
The third strike looked pretty straight, too.
Is it me? Cause I just do not see Gonzalez as being that great, and yet………
Where does good pitching end and bad hitting begin?
When the Yankees aren’t hitting, they can’t hit anyone.
Oh NO!!!
It’s now an official game because I got my first Database Error ejection.
About Gonzalez, Curtis was locked and loaded this ab, and Miguel beat him down the middle and then on the hands. Curtis swings fast, too.
A 2 out hit…have had the lead off runner on yet?
Girardi has to manage the rest of this game as if every inning is the eight or ninth.
Let’s hope the 3 minute inning means stress on a weary O.
I’d have more confidence in that if Gonzalez had had a stressful 5th with a lot of pitches.
yeah, and he looks fit, trim and young, but looking for the means to rally. There’s Jetah!
There you go H-Dave, a lead off single.
Another key at bat for Rodriguez.
Ouch, wicked sinker in an impossible spot. Prettty good pitch.
And another just horrible AB!
Another horrible at bat for the Rod…..he swung at a pitch 4 inches outside, then strike 3 was another confused half swing…he is this years automatic out.
Here’s a better candidate, yet. Robinson, Robinson!
Did Gonzalez even throw him a strike? He definitely got himself out.
nope, but surely they looked like it.
shit, Gonzalez is pitching! He got Robinson thrice with a version of his two seamer that breaks a foot horizontally, just for the lefties.
you say tomato and i say tomotto….i dont call that great pitching…i call it, I cant believe he swung at that, you wanna try it again? OMG he swung again, you dont think he’s stupid enough to swing at that pitch a 3rd time, do you, he can;t be that stupid…lets try, what the hell…..omg he swung again….
lol, he’s just not used to any getting away.
And Cano is back to swinging at anything too…not 1 pitch was in the strike zone and he strikes out swinging? And Gonzalez will be given credit for a dominant performance. Unreal.
pretty real in my opinion.
Nice catch by Chavez stealing that from the idiot fan.
Oki-san has done his job so far. He’s kept the Yanks in the game.
It’s time for something drastic. We will have to sacrifice someone to the baseball gods. Where’s Stacey?
What a Sublime thought, but I don’t practice Santeria.
This is Fanteria.
Excellent! Kill the soda!
oh, you wicked man.
Ichi is fun to watch as he waits on the fly to fall, he always minces his steps, and is moving when he catches it.
And now we get a bloop n a bang and we break the Oriole hearts….remember my prediction.
walk, whack, win!
Well, at least Gonzalez is gone. But except for the one time vs Johnson the Yanks have done nothing against the Oreo ‘pen.
I can never understand how a team with the Yanks hitting ability can consistently fail to score runs for Oki-san.
Curious about that…but this team barely scored 800 runs in a year that they broke the team home run record…someone was gonna get “Felixed”
Bastards made me look like a fool.
If this score holds this series will be typical of the O’s season. Two one run wins. Lead series 2-1, but outscored 10-7.
Great game by Oki-san!
The Creature from the Boone Lagoon get his out.
Amazing, but it’s the top of the ninth and yet the Yanks have one out in the bottom of the ninth.
I hope the rod striketh but once.
If he hits an HR I’ll change my mind about benching him. But right now, no way he should play tomorrow.
but, uh, ok. Raul may smiteth them.
WOW!!!! Good for Girardi!
Cojones.
IBBY!!!!!!!!! TIED!!!!!!!!!
Now that’s something.
Best. Pinch. Hit. Ever.
Raul’s too cool for school you fool!
Back to back and go home.
You don’t have to Chubby Checker my arm.
In the tradition of Fats Domino and Chubby Checker, we now present…Obese Backgammon!
How about Chunky Chess?
EXTRY! EXTRY! We go extry innings.
How delicious would it be for the Yanks to end the O’s 16 game extra inning win streak?!!
taste pretty good, I reckon.
That’s purdy good, pardner
Good DP!
Nix nixes the rally.
Wow! The gods smiled on us there. That McClouth.
McClouth was outh!
Come on Yanks. END IT HERE!
We really need Teixeira to come through.
Leonardo da Robertson painting them corners.
I think Hardy was his muse. He was all over his cutters. Dave started to go for accuracy.
11 sounds like a lucky number, and I need to get to bed, so play me some slumber music, you Bombers.
Would definitely love to hear some Bye, Bye Birdie.
Plus, they need to save the ‘pen. I don’t have a lot of confidence in Hughes going deep into the game tomorrow.
On, over, in.
Or out. Your choice, Yanks.
Boy! I thought Nixy got it.
Matusz is about to hang one those curves!
Meanwhile, I must say that I think Rippy & Smoltzy have done a real good job in this series.
Fieldin gets to watch some great fielding.
Dammit. If that run scores, I’ll be pissed.
Try some Depends.
That play by Robertson was ugly, but it was an improvement over the play before it.
Oh my! I need some Valium after those last two plays.
Ibby due up? I want some deja vu all over again!
Seek immediate medical help for a ballgame lasting more than 4 hours.
Priapballism?
They shoulda let Robbie take that. Ragged, but done.
Get ‘em, Yanks.
Holy Moley!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Diddly damn! Raul is giving evidence for canonization!
Ibby thinks he’s Matsui!!
Live by the long ball, live by the long ball!
Amazing. Broke the extra innings string. Wow. And they won the game on Girardi’s guts!
Move of YEAR, maybe the decade!
Easily the greatest managerial move of his career.
Well, tonight the Yanks equaled there season total for wins when trailing after 8 innings!
Good time for it!
Now root for the A’s to come back.
That was the first time this year the Orioles lost a game they were winning after 7 innings, and they first time this year they lost by a walkoff.
Chat y’all tomorrow night! Clincher night in The Bronx!
I feel better about Hughes pitching in that situation!
OMG! That was Ibby’s 1st HR all year vs a lefty.
Definitely, no such thing as “clutch,” or “heart.”
