Happy Tuesday everyone. I hope you’re having a good day. Here are some links for you to look at before the game.

This afternoon, Mike Axisa of River Avenue Blues writes about David Robertson’s missing curveball. I had noticed something different about Robertson’s appearances of late and how he seems to be going with his fastball more often. It’s interesting to see the pitch breakdown.

Rob Steingall over at Pinstripe Alley wonders if Michael Pineda will become Carl Pavano 2.0. Jeez, I really hope not. I barely survived the Pavano era.

Various people have written about Joba Chamberlain‘s struggles since returning from Tommy John surgery. The general consensus is that he should be sent to the Minors. Jon Lane of yesnetwork.com writes about Joba needing more work and that sending him to Triple A would be the best solution.

Lots of stuff has been written about Derek Jeter of late. Mostly about how shocked everyone is that at age 38, Jeter is leading the league with 167 hits and is currently batting .320/.367/.442/.809. But there was one article which was published within the past 24 hours that was a bit much and has been met with a lot of criticism.

Phil Rogers of the Chicago Tribune wrote a piece called “Ever-valuable Jeter deserves MVP.” No offense to Mr. Rogers but Derek Jeter isn’t even the MVP of his own team right now. It’s a nice thought and yes, Jeter is having an amazing season but in a league which includes Mike Trout, Miguel Cabrera and others, Jeter doesn’t stand a chance at winning MVP.

Jeter’s best chance to win the M.V.P. was in 2006. He lost out to Justin Morneau thanks in part to another Chicago writer, Joe Cowley, who inexplicably placed Jeter sixth in M.V.P. voting.

Derek Jeter’s resurgence is a great feel-good story for 2012 but league M.V.P.? No.

Another big topic of discussion is Nick Swisher and what will happen after this season ends. As everyone knows, Swisher will be a free agent and in this piece by Jon Heyman on cbssports.com, it seems as though Swisher is looking for Jayson Werth type money – $126M over seven years. He definitely can’t get that from the Yankees so it will be interesting to see what happens in the off-season.

The final link may be something you’ve heard about already but just in case you haven’t, Rick Sutcliffe thinks Melky Cabrera should be deported for testing positive for PED’s. I really have no words for this one.

perhaps an emphatic hand gesture would be appropriate …and pithy.
