From “the” Bronx

Alex Rodriguez and David Aardsma will begin rehabbing with High-A Tampa quite soon, though the latter is unlikely to be ready for the show until fairly late in the season (if that). Aardsma last pitched in the Majors on September 19 … 2010.

Mike Ashmore (among others) spoke with Brian Cashman about both the Trenton Thunder and the Yankees as a whole. My favorite tidbit is Cashman’s line about prospects being suspects, and I have been pondering for what they are suspected. In the case of Betances, perhaps it is a Benjamin Button’d Daniel Cabrera (who is, amazingly, still only 31).

Jim Leyritz, best known for either Game 4 of the 1996 World Series or some very damning legal issues, hopes to delve into coaching someday. Am I the only Yankee fan that finds it very difficult to root for this man, in any capacity?

From around the league(s)

Jack Moore of FanGraphs posted some pure, unadulterated baseball pornography, featuring Brett Anderson. It may be safe for work and most social situations, but a towel may be necessary to those enthralled by sexual breaking balls with command … imagine a pornographic film directed by the meticulous Stanley Kubrick, and you will be prepared.

Dan Lependorf explains the machinations of steroid testing over at the Hardball Times – a must read, for far too many reasons to list here.

Rob Neyer looked into Buck Showalter’s alleged genius … which, apparently, only manifested itself this year. It’s a rather interesting take on the narratives many like to weave to explain away luck-related events.

Not quite baseball related, but awesome nonetheless

Two oldies but goodies from XKCD – on narratives, and hitting a Sidd Finch fastball.

Why wouldn’t you root for Leyritz. Besides starting the last Yankee dynasty. He was involved in an accident And it was proven he did not run a red light. before his accident he was involved in many charities and foundations giving his time to both the Yankees and all different types of charitable causes. he waited 3 years for a trial and was cleared of any wrongdoing. he quit the game of baseball to.take custody of his children. Again he was in a accident that wasnt his fault. he admitted to drinking and driving and took responsibility.( its been 2 years and he hasnt got in any trouble since) . yet people naive like you don’t want to look at all the good things he had done and is doing in his life.now. seriously. You have any idea what he’s doing now. go on his website and see. we should only hope that more people who go through something tragic, turn their life around and make a positive impact on others . I just saw him at Cantor Fitzgerald and BGC raising money for the victims of 911.So in answer to.your question this is one Mets fan who doesnt like the Yankees. Yet I root for more men like Leyritz .
