Welcome back NYCC!
Pet peeve of the day: Whining in baseball. Ozzie & Bobby V should be suspended for excessive whining.
Neither one of those guys can let someone else have the last word. Never have, never will, no matter how petty they get.
Lord of the Rings reference?
Could do with more Chavez and less Nix at 3rd
By the book–lefty on the mound.
Time for New York Yankees baseball
Looked good that inning
After that layoff an no rehab starts his control looked pretty good. That’s what I was most afraid of in this start.
He looked better than he did the first half.
Same. Especially since during times this year his location seemed to be spotty.
You just know Jeter is going to hit a lefty. Every lefty. He just kills them
Against the Blue Jays, you need don’t-leave-the-ball-over-the-plate location, as opposed to missing-the-corners location.
Im assuming that CC is on a pitch count. Probably wont let him go too much more than 100
Youk walked and scored. Battle of the hose: Pale 2, Crimson 0.
I love scoreboard watching! Go knitted footwear dyed white~
It’s a crazy league. Only three teams in the AL are under .500. All the others are within sniffing distance of the 2nd wild card, even though they stink.
Bud Selig’s wet dream, except for the Yanks and the Rangers.
This will be hard to believe, but the A’s are a half game above the Rays in the WC race.
Oh, they are above the Red Sox too
Over/Under 30 on Cano’s current hitting steak? I’d say over, but I’m concerned about the left coast trip coming up.
You need so much luck to keep a streak going. But if anyone is worth a bet, it’s Cano. I’ll take over.
It’s amazing that the Yankees have increased their division lead from 2.5 games to 9 games while Sabathia and Pettitte were out.
Andruw Jones with a 3 run homer
Just think what would have happened if Cecil wasn’t trying to slow things down to throw off Jones’ timing.
Ha!
Those evil commie red sox tied the score.
Damn.
They’re only a game out of the 2nd wild card, but really when there are 5 teams within a game of the 2nd wild card, that doesn’t mean too much.
Lighter colored sox now up 3-2
come on white sox
Get a hit, you schmuck!
Counting tonight’s game, since the break thye Yanks are 10-31, .323, w/RISP
What former Yankee won two games for the Blue Jays in the 1992 World Series?
I haven’t a clue. Can’t even think of any who pitched for them.
I cheated and looked it up. I’ll let you continue to guess.
I guessed, but I wasn’t very sure. It was Jimmy Key. I remember him pitching for the Yankees before they were great and I thought he came from Toronto, but maybe he went there instead.
Gotta love it when a guy with little speed gets a bunt single.
Kerensky Sox 6, Lenin Sox 2
Kerensky? Nobody remembers him, not even in Chicago.
Alexander Kerensky, leader of the White Russians.
I know. I was a European History Major. Excellent verbiage. But not many people remember that there was a regime in between the Czars and the Commies.
I was US History Major, minor in modern European History. Most of the Russian history I learned as an undergraduate from a professor who was a Hungarian refuge. He taught the Russian course, but it kind of died after Lenin’s revolution.
The guy who taught the Russian history intro course at my school was from a family of aristocrats that had been chased out of Russia by the revolution. His brother had written the course textbook, and he used to introduce the book by saying, “In an effort to recoup the family’s fortunes…”
CC looking great. The AL East trembles.
Yanks have a ton of games left against the AL East
More runs. This isn’t in the bag yet.
Yanks are waiting for the late innings to score again.
This was about the best CC has looked all year.
It really was. He was the dominant CC. Maybe a combination of summer heat and the rest helped him out.
Yankees lead after 6 1/2, God bless them and America
Is Sori available today? Pitched 3 of last 4.
Maybe not. One more run and they wouldn’t start the 9th anyway. Although the guys they do start the 9th with are haven’t done very well lately.
we might not need him the way this game is going
Yeah, the pen should be able to handle this with Soriano or Robinson.
On. Over. In.
Simple.
Love them late inning runs.
Yanks lately are great at early and late ining runs. Those middle innings are just there for show.
Oh good Lord. Teams in Central & /or South America? The travel would be horrendous. And Mexico City is much higher than Denver. That concept is a disaster.
I have no problem with the concept, but in practice it would be crazy. The travel, as you say, would be nuts, the conditions would be less than major league, and there are already too many teams.
I wouldn’t mind 16 teams in each league. Four divisions. Unbalanced schedules and only the winners make the playoffs. But probably not possible to find 2 more viable locations.
Never happen. Baseball likes having nobody finish worse than 5th place.
I meant 4 divisions in each league. But I know it will never happen.
That’s different. I wouldn’t bet against that eventually.
If the Yanks can keep up their new found ability to hit w/RISP they will run away with division and maybe even the best record in the AL.
Yeah, they are really getting it into gear. They could be awesome the second half.
Qualls needs to start pitching better to impress his next team. In 2 1/2 weeks or so Joba could return.
Top of the 9th, 7-5, those nasty commies need to be taught a lesson.
Damn, this is a game they should not have needed to bring in Sori
Yeah I agree. Hes probably not available tomorrow I would think. D Rob to close tomorrow when they sweep?
Ar least he only needed 5 pitches.
How frustrating to have to bring in your closer in a game like this for his 5th consecutive day
Holy jesus what a play by Tex!
Great DP!
3 DP! And that’s the ball game!
Oh and as for White Russians…the dude abides
Poetry, history, and baseball altogether on this blog
