Game 100-Big man vs BoSox
Heres your lineup from Lohud:
Jeter
Granderson
Teixeira
Cano
Jones
Nix
Martin-DH
Suzuki
Stewart
Looks like Girardi wants to prove he can beat the Sox with half his team, and he probably can. Go Yanks!

Watching the Olympics before the Yankee game starts. I am severely pissed at the IOC for dropping baseball. I mean horses get Olympic events but no baseball? What’s up with that?
I always thought it would be cool if the MLB made the allstar break later every fourth year and sent a major league team to the Olympics.
To get in the mood while we wait for the rain to go away: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/217/nickswisher.png/
I’m betting that since the game is going to so late that FOX won’t carry it here…..damn.
Too bad. I’m betting they’ll play eventually.
FOX just flashed for a 6:05 ET start, so I’m keeping my eyes crossed they’ll show it.
Opps, cancel that. I read on LoHud that the tarp is going back on.
Fox here is saying it looks like they’ll play.
They’re showing the SF-LA game here. It’s in the 6th inning. I just doubt that after that game they’d broadcast another one that would upset their prime time schedule.
FOX just announced they are only showing the game in the NY & Bos markets. Idiots, that game is probably they’re best bet for eating into NBC’s Olympic coverage.
Game on!
I just checked the score. What the hell happened to CC?
4 hits in the first inning. They were pounding him. He looked a lot better in the second. Maybe the rain delay got to him. They better get to Lester.
Looks like the Yankee offense is going to snooze until the 6th inning or later.
At least CC got himself back on track.
Lester’s been feeding some bitter sleeping pills. Fitful sleep, gonna be cranky.
CC doesn’t have it. This may just be a mediocre year.
Hunh, could be, but the start before last, when he had just come off the DL, I think, he was brilliant, no? Hoping the dog days are his strength, being rested.
Nix for MVP!
Back to a 3-run game. I hope they can at least make it interesting.
wish I knew the pitch counts, tick, tick till a shot. Or Lester could cave…
Ha! How about dat? Jason Nix with a 2 homer game. 3 rbi, Arod’s ghost?
Hey, maybe Nix will have a great couple of months and make Rodriguez’s absence a nonissue.
it’s a wunnerful, wonnerful tune.
Walk to Martin. NOw if Ichiro can single him to third…
ho, baby. Good eye!
My mistake. The Yankees don’t go first to third on a single.
Still, tying run on. Three shots at it.
If Stewart bunted, I wouldn’t freak out.
good eye!
All right, at least the run comes in and it’s a bloop-and-a-blast game.
I confused Nix’s homer last night with Stewart’s. But no multi-ing for him. Joe musta figured he’d been lucky enough.
Small ball gets one, and a man on third.
Ichiro, steal home!
shucks! good idea, great idea.
I’m really worried that CC has started his decline. Last year we didn’t have his typical 2nd half. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still VERY good, but he’s no longer automatic.
good old hoss, getting a little older. The volume of victories may diminish, but I have hopes that young guys like Phelps, Nova, Manny B, and Phil will provide a strong balance.
who’s got Gameday cued up? Lester’s pitchcount?
94 after Cano
thanks. Bet he bears on Bobby to go another inning.
Finished inning at 101, so yeah he’ll come out for the 7th.
YS is a half-hour downwind of me, and there’s been a steady gentle rain here for maybe 45 minutes.
Fun to see Ichiro get a great read on that linefly to right, creeping on it quickly with small steps.
and making divots to stop after he had corralled a scary shot.
He didn’t have to reach out for it. He caught up to it with his whole body.
yeah, looks like a perfessional.
Need to get something started.
Wow, Lester was tough really surprised he’s not back for the 7th. Bobby may be prudent, ’cause he wants Lester on a good trend, longterm.
Albers is looking good (bad). 1st half/ last half was night and day for him last year.
Man, that Adrian Gonzalez home run shouldn’t have happened.
He guessed the out pitch, and put a weird swing on it. A golf shot, pitching wedge.
Beautiful slider, then two seamer. Phelpsie! Spotted that corner!
Come on, DP.
nah, he figured he’s just overpower them.
That works, too.
Is Pena gonna catch the 9th? Oh, they’ll lose the DH.
Yeah, Raul, I think you’re cool!
A single by Ibanez? Wow.
Man, I thought that was a homer.
And another! Damn!!!!
erk!
dum de dum dum… Tex no likey Padilla. And Padilla wants to blow him away…
and an ephus strike, then a big one. Go Tex!
Come on Tex. Show Padilla how real women play this game.
YES!! Teixeira vs Padilla. It doesn’t get better than this!!
An eaphus pitch? Whose the woman now Padilla?
HR!!!! Yeah!
Padilla channeling his inner Pedro, “Whose your Mama?”
Bye bye, Vincenta!
Not really an eephus pitch, just a big curve.
Love the way Teixeira styled that.
GameDay called it that. I didn’t see it.
gotta watch the highlights. Choice body laguage.
They called it that on Fox, too, but when I saw it it didn’t seem to go above Teixeira’s head. Maybe I didn’t see it right, but it looked like a looping curve to me. I’m sure MLB will have the video.
I was saying to see Tex’s dignified trot on the highlights, but the pitch, too. I called it an ephus, loosely, a 55 mph curve that got to ten feet or so.
Swish huddled down, and gave Tex a double whammy congrats.
Problems again with a “Connection to the database.” Last night, too.
Yeah, I had it last night as well.
I’ve been having that problem for over a week now.
Ah, geez.
sheeis! one weird long floating corkscrew, and all our momentum kerplash.
something about that Sciriaco, I’m telling you. Warps the weave.
Was watching Olympics and came back to see Sori gave up 2 rubs. Damn!
Well, anyway, it would hardly be a comforting win for the Sox.
I guess it will, with Lester, Albers, then the big hit.
For us, it was so close…that payback for Tex… then, sheeisss!
Nah, blow a lead and then get handed a win–that isn’t satisfying. At least to me.
At least get the tying run on. Then there will be at least one interesting at bat.
oh, we’re still looking?
Was.
wow, Aceves-Frankenstein whupped good-eye Swisher.
duked Eric. Holy sheeis.
I hate losing to these guys. Absolutely HATE it. It’s all FOX’s fault for not broadcasting the game here.
I bet McCarver was behind it.
Chat y’all tomorrow.
I love all the people on Yankees Lohud bitching about how Granderson misplayed the booming shot Soriano gave up to a friggin’ near-nobody and Soriano sucks as a closer.
How ’bout they bitch about this?
THE 2012 YANKEES HAVEN’T HAD A COMEBACK WIN WHERE THE RALLY STARTED IN THE NINTH INNING ALL SEASON.
This team has absolutely NO comeback in them whatsoever. ‘Wanna beat the 2012 Yankees? Just have a lead on them going into the ninth as they will wilt like the chokeartists they are.
This team can’t hit with RISP, score without the homerun enough where the homeun isn’t relied on (5 of the 6 runs they scored tonight came on the long ball), or come back in the ninth. If any two or all three of these facts manifest themselves in the postseason, the Yanks will be eliminated in the first round or in five games in the ALCS.
As for Soriano, one more blown save or hold (in this case blown hold) and it is time for the Yanks to let Robertson close some games. I’m not saying demote Soriano to set up man, but maybe it’s best if the Yanks switch it up in the closer role like they did before Robertson got injured. I’d even say if the Yanks were up after eight and the opponent had two or three lefties at the plate have Logan close it. I’d even let Joba close here and there if/when he returns.
No big deal re: the loss as I think the As will beat the Os yet again as the As are just on fire right now and the Yanks will bounce back with a win tomorrow to gain a game on the Red Sox. If the Yanks win or lose and the Os lose again tomorrow, they go into the series with the Os no less than 8.5 games up on the Os. That ns just one win over the Os ensures them a lead of no less than 7.5 games over the Os on August 1st.
Sabathia is in a sort of slump he better get out of (3+ ERA which is hardly ace-like) and the Yanks better figure out a way to score other ways besides the long ball or the Yanks can forget advancing to the ALCS.
