OK. I’m here.
Me, too. But our brilliant earlier conversation will be lost to Game Thread posterity.
Some Mets fans got upset because Swisher was celebrating in the Yankee dugout after hitting 3 homers in a row.
Aww, poor Metsy fans!
They must have been really hard on the Mets for celebrating ON the field after Santana no hitter.
12 straight games, I guess Hughes is serious about that record.
Boy, now theres something you dont see everyday. Phil Hughes giving up a long HR.
Nope, just every 5th day.
I was just going to say that.
hahaha Hughes location doesn’t seem all that on so far. I see the catchers mit moving a lot
Blooper hits are the most frustrating kind arent they
Only when the Yankees are in the field. When they’re hitting, I love ‘em. Something great about seeing some bozo wearing someone else’ uniform lunge at a pop just out of reach.
Hughes didn’t collapse. What’s going on??
He just let them pop themselves out.
The Mets seem to like Phil’s fastball. They keep admiring it.
Phils location hasnt been great, but his FB definitely has some life on it.
YES! Phil gets the K! He’s…
Never mind. He stinks. He’ll blow it sooner or later.
However, 90 pitches through 5 innings. Not terrible, but not real good.
Yow, that was exciting, Phil v Torres. The ump didn’t give him the strikeout on the same pitch, about three prior, a perfect place exactly on his hands, as he leans in.
Baxter! Baxter! Wheres those dreams that Ive been after? Baxter, Baxter promised only lies! Laughter, laughter, all I hear and see is laughter. Laugter, laughter, laughing at my cries!
I just think of that song everytime I hear his name for some reason.
hunh, you got some weird beasties dwelling in your corners.
The Yanks seem to have lost their patience. Not taking as many pitches as usual.
Phil is like the Yankee offense. Both only score runs via the long ball.
good thing nobody’s been on.
Talk about living & dying by the sword (HR). That first inning is coming back to haunt them.
All right, no more futzing around. Get that tying run in.
What the hell is Rodriguez swinging at?
They NEED to plate that walk to Granderson.
He’s on second. That means they need a hit with a runner in scoring position.
Uh Oh, don’t you just hate when that happens.
Gee’s only thrown 80 pitches. They need to drive him out of the game and get into the pen.
That will do nicely, Mr. Teixeira.
Way to get it, Tex!
Now 2 for 5 w/RISP
Professor, I had a feeling it may be better to stick with Gee, rather than hope for the bullpen: his stuff has been just good enough, and now he’s getting tired.
Possible, but the Met pen is horrendous.
yeah, and it’s easy to say after Tex hits it, but they get vulnerable, maybe don’t have the strength to get good break.
Swisher is hacking at everything.
Do you bring Hughes back out? I would. Still good velocity and command hasn’t deteriorated.
yeah. It’s uncanny the popping tendencies on Phil’s fb (and curve).
and, soon as I say that, a liner on a curve. Nice approach, handling it with a shot down the line. Neuwenheis did that, too. Good for rallies.
I suppose so. He’s at 102 pitches. I’d say he could run it up to 115, 120 without problems.
Hughes had much better command tonight. The team seems to have dealt with his balance issues, although there were still a handful of pitches that got away from him when he rushed his feet.
I noticed his fb faded right, when he was trying for the low right corner, early in the game. Caused that first walk, and saw it later. Did see him hit the spot exactly, later too.
Logan….ugh! Has had some problems recently. I’m just not comfortable with him & Wade for the 7th & 8th. Hoping for Robertson’s return and then Aardsma (?) in July or August and Chamberlain in Sept.
Curtis has made some very nice hauls, way back.
Nice catch! It’s very cool having an outfielder who can catch the ball.
I hope that turns out to be a game saving catch.
A long, loud ex-hale.
That was dangerous, but Cory got him. Let’s score some runs.
Yankees need some runs. It looks like we’ll see Clay Rapada in the 8th. Ugh, ugh, ugh.
Gee looked good v. Chavez. Maybe the bullpen would be meatier.
I think the Yanks will see them in the bottom of the 8th. I just hope they’re still leading.
Now Rapada……me no likee.
maybe try holding your breath.
OK – let it go – rapida!
Me wrong…….Yipee!!!
it looks like the last period in your pause, above, is bold: how’d you do that?
But yippee has officially, two p’s.
Not sure about the bold. And I guess I was so excited I left out the second p.
Well done, Curtis! the bullpen is delicious!
Parnell has nice pizazz on his fb.
I like the ratio of 2 Ks for 1 HR.
Alright, with a touch of tension.
Start spreading the Hughhes… and Dillon Gee pitched well, too.
Nice. They stay tied for 1st and a game ahead of the Os, who, despite a win today, are fading.
See y’all tomorrow for a potential sweep.
yeah, good nacht, Phil.
