Phil started tight, too tight, squeezing the ball to the left. The second was twp pops, a very good sign, and a warning track to right. Swish got a liner in the first, woulda hit the base of the wall, but he found and stabbed it at the last second.
Phil looks a bit keyed up. It’s not desire, but command he has to master.
Swish finished the top of the third in a kneeling – catchit – three point landing. Not beautiful, but he held it with two hands, and it’s appreciated.
The fourth was much better. He got Santana with a beautiful low curve, swinging. Then spotted his fb low inside to Brantley, and he looked relieved. Bet the 5th is good.
Stewie had a bleeding weird “liner” that Hanrahan mistimed. It was like Stewie cupped it with the bat, and it acted like a changeup. But it was a RISP hit, the first run of three.
In the fourth he similarly muscled a soft liner over short. Reminds me of Frankie’s early clutch hits, as he surprised with a good ba for the year.
Arod hit a soft liner to short, and answered my question: Masterson’s moving two seamer, getting in on the righty’s handle.
Also Grandy, then Robbie broke bats, maybe on cutters. Masterson has a contract with the bat companies.
Masterson’s cutter is killer.
Phil did ok in the 5th, tho the bullet Tex got and turned for two was scorched. Paul noted his many inside pitches, so he, too, is incorporating that.
meh just tuned in. Who homered?
Lessee…risp single, the double risp double, Stewie and Wyse.
make that Stewie and Grandy.
The Hughes Roller Coaster is going up again.
yeah, it’s an old fashioned, kinda wobbly ride, scary but a thrill so far.
Phil was always close to trouble in the 6th, but his inside curve to lefties got them twice.
Against so-so offenses he’s very good. But the best teams can hit him.
The Indians have about 7 lefties, but the good thing turns out Phil holds lefties to a 180 ba.
Yeah, weird reverse split this year for Yooz.
Phil is still a work in progress, not as static as that. His fb velo is ok, but he still may master the mechanics he had in May, 2010. That’s thin, I know, but NOBODY could hit him then, with that fb rise.
Now that’s a catch!
Highlight reel catch by Wise, then YES discovers he didn’t catch it! Wild Wise! Nice triple last night, too. The Umpire’s fave.
No, it isn’t! Someone put it in his glove. Ha ha ha ha ha.
too funny. See the guy in the red shirt holding up the ball, about ten feet away?
There you go, homer hungry. Arod spanked one a long way.
I’d put Masterson and Porcello on my trade prospect list.
Marco Scutaro!
whut?
you must mean for backup ss. Yeah, he’d be real good.
One of the Yankee blogs had a thing about him. He’s probably available. Having a bad year, though.
Plus he was in a documentary about a minor league team years ago, and his wife is cute.
he’s was bonked hard by Strasburg yesterday. Bounced off his helmet at the temple, hardly slowing down. Achieved compression, ouch.
Yeah. Is he going to be out a while?
just saw the highlight reel, no word on prognosis.
Preserve the shutout!
Corey needs a little downtime, retread.
Shoulda brought in Freddie.
Nice play, Rodriguez.
It was, but risks his tender knee.
