Why do the Indians have a good record? Anyone? oh and this is a comment that im sure will bite me in the ass but thank GOD the Yankees didn’t trade for Ubaldo Jimenez!
One reason, maybe only a small one, they play in a week division and played against a weak NL division.
I understand resting people. But on a night when Martin has to sit why is BOTH A Rod sitting out and Wise replacing Granderson in CF?
Well Granderson is DHing so its not like they’ll lose his bat. Wise is about a wash defensively with Granderson. However…why its Wise and not Chris Dickerson who does everything better than Wise is beyond me. Again it might not make that big a difference but there are internal bench options that would definitely represent an upgrade on this team
There ya go Cano!
A hit w/RISP and it produced 2 runs! Now Kuroda needs to shut down the Indians.
I like Kuroda. He has certainly done his job as the Yankees number 2 starter. Guy gives good innings and prevents the opposing team from scoring. Those early season struggles certainly seem to be behind him.
Why didn’t you dive on that Brantly hit Cano?! Kidding lol
If he continues pitching likes this I wouldn’t be surprised to see him back one more year.
I would certainly welcome him back. I love 1 year deals for effective veteran pitchers
Agree. Even though Garcia has been awful, it was worth the try,
Bad Hop…..don’t look it up in the dictionary, we just saw it.
Wowww
OMG!!! So much for my complaints about Wise playing tonight.
Yesterday I was talking trash about Ibanez today I was about Wise. Ummm ARod and Tex are overrated and their contracts are an albatross!!
I read this blog guys. That’ll teach you to bad mouth me.
Turkey, you can’t even spell your own name right.
Hahahahaha
Jeet still has an arm
His only problem at short is his diminished range.
If the ball is hit sharply more than 4 steps in either direction he probably isnt going to get it
Who called it? Hahaha hes so good
Cano is such a pleasure to watch, especially when he’s on a tear.
Such a sweet swing so smooth. Just beautiful to watch. And somehow I feel like he unerachieves every season. I feel like he has Hamilton talent.
They both have swings that are so smooth it doesn’t seam like they hit the ball hard.
I just feel like Cano should be contending for a batting title every year. And hes never hit 30 home runs in his career. I know those are lofty expecatations for a second baseman but with the talent Cano has I just think that should be the expectations
Niiiice Swish. 2 runs reach inning, I LOVE it!
Best to get into the teams bullpen early into a game on the first game of a set. Bodes well for future games.
Me thinks we’re going to see the Indian pen early tonight.
Garcia’s probably hoping the Yanks get a 10 run lead so can pitch an inning or two.
I mean if your not going to put him in during THIS game…DFA him. He has to get into this once Kuroda is done.
This could get ugly fast if Kuroda doesn’t settle in.
He did!
No worries mann no worries. We could use a nice easy game to relax after the last 2
Does this new Indian pitcher think he’s in the Japanese league?
I really hope the Yankees make a trade for a true backup infielder. Jayson Nix has filled in well and all but Jeter needs a true caddy. His hitting has really fallen off and I think it may have something to do with the fact that hes 38 (tomorrow) and never gets off his feet even on his “days off.” The current Yankees have no real shortstop aside from Jeter, Nix is more of an emergecy guy.
Amazing how important the Yankee bench has become with all these long term contracts for veterans.
That would be a big plus for the team. Probably their only read need. Girardi has to force Jeter to sit and soon, you know it won’t be tomorrow.
I would like to see them go after Brendan Ryan of the Mariners. He doesn’t hit much but who cares out of a backup. The Yankees offense is good enough that a backup that doesn’t hit wont hurt them. Hes one of if not the best defensive shortstop in the league and cheap.
Can he play 2nd?
If he can play short as well as he does I would assume that he can play second. Plus he was on the Cards if you believe in that “needs to be a winner” thing. He wouldnt cost anything seeing as hes only batting like .149 right now. Hes been everywhere from .289 for his recent low for his career
Missed most of this until now, but it looks like the kind of Yankee game I like.
Its cool. You missed the Cano Show. Still plenty of innings for some fireworks
2 innings no runs. Trade the bums!!
Poor Carlos Santana. First and second, he beats the top of his right foot with foul tips, lays in the dirt till they can convince him he can walk. He does walk, or limp, to first.
Now in the bottom of the inning, Nick Swisher foul tips one straight back, and it traps under him, doing that trap the basketball rapid dribble on his, drubbita, drubbitta, ahem, midsection.
He’s definitely going to need maximum strength aspirin tonight & tomorrow.
the way he knocked on wood after signing the pitch makes me think it might be alchohol.
I’ll drink to that.
Opps. Forgot to reset it.
Jeez Wise way to make us look bad
Trade Granderson, the Yanks don’t need him!
I’m going to turn Granderson into Wally Pip.
Johnny Damon sucks!
surprised Johnny didn’t stretch that to a triple. Tailor made.
One really must genuflect to Jeter for 2 plays tonight.
He’s trying to make us forget tomorrow is his b’day.
I bet he knows how old he is, and the RAB story about him getting tired since Nunie was sent down is real. He better sprain his toe, or something to get a couple weeks off.
But the old man can still make an outrageously athletic play.
Kuroda has commanded the game, with the get-ahead, get ‘em with a splitter recipe. Like the fade on his two seamer against all these lefties, too.
I figure he really digs run support.
Kuroda…one more year?
Depends on the rest of the season, both his and Phelps/Warren/Mitchell/Manny, and whether we keep or trade Phil.
And resign Andy. And whether Pineda comes back.
Yup haha sure is nice to have options
And it depends on Andy and Pineda
And talking about Pineda, it’s been a while since I saw anyone mention Montero on a Yankee blog.
I can imagine that trade turning out a clear winner.
shouldn’t they get Tex’ hand in a bucket of ice?
I guess Garcia is just keep the pen bench warm until Aardsma’s ready.
I guess he just doesn’t fit into Girardi’s program. He’s had a couple good innings–I don’t see why they shouldn’t pop him in here and there when the game isn’t on the line.
Yeah, if only to save the other relievers some innings.
Nice catch! Hit on a line, and the runner didn’t have time to tag.
I think Swisher was a ballerina in a previous life.
Nice run, Swish.
Rapada throws, Swisher catches.
Rapada was jealous because CC has his personal catcher and now Rapada has his personal right fielder.
$6.50 for fries?!?
Not golden fried, but actual gold.
In the old days, you could just take a potato and fry it on Paul O’Neil’s head when he got angry.
Or Sweet Lou.
Yeah, he was something.
Here comes Garcia’s audition for the closer role.
Looks good to me. Love the deke-show of his forkball, before he threw his last pitch, that did not drop, and was letter high. Either a very bad pitch, or a good one.
Nice game. I hope a new long winning streak is in the making.
Good night all.
OMG! I just saw a replay where a ball that landed less than a foot from home plate was a triple!
Great information. I have bookmarked your blog to review later.
Thanks a lot for providing this info.
