Watching the Yankees these days is not easy. They’re at the point where a good game won’t really change things. They need to get a good week going.

  2. BGrider85 says:

All one can hope is that theyre getting all this crap out of the way now so it doesn’t happen in September because this is awful to watch.

  3. EJ Fagan says:

I’m willing to bet that Alex Rodriguez made that stolen base in an attempt to get the team going, rather than it being called from the bench.

    • Professor Longnose says:

Exactly the wrong thing to do. Once a runner was in scoring position, the inning was doomed.

  4. Professor Longnose says:

    Runs! Runs! Bwahahahahahahahahahaha!!

Phil was very good, but still used a lot of pitches. Wish he would induce poor contact, instead of taking everybody to 3-2. You could see him wince on the 2 strike fouls. More early popups!

We fizzled on the bases loaded, but at least we squeaked a couple in.

These YES announcers are driving me crazy: I want to watch the game, not get distracted by their yuk-yuk stories.

  7. BGrider85 says:

I’m done with Phil Hughes. He’s never going to be the pitcher we expected. Once we can get some actual starting pitching depth, actual depth not the fallacy that was pitched to us in April, I want Phil in the pen permenantly.

I’m weary of waiting, but won’t give up. If he can become more efficient, he’ll truly be what we need.

  8. BGrider85 says:

Yeah his pitch counts are insane. He is almost guaranteed to be at 100 through 5 every time out.

    • smurfy says:

But if you look back at his game conduct, you can see him working thru alternative approaches: all fastballs early; innings of all curves; he had a pretty good mixture tonite. It isn’t like he’s just sticking to his guns, not thrusting for the optimal.

Last time out, he had a more efficient experience, loaded with pops.

  9. smurfy says:

Two outs, man on third. C’mon Soriano!

  10. smurfy says:

Alright! Great throw by Arod! Got him by a whisker.

  11. smurfy says:

Andy pitching tomorrow? Hoping for another clean job! Get it rolling!

  12. smurfy says:

Biggest hit: Wayne Wise’s excellent bunt!
