Nova with the 1-2-3 inning
Nice game so far. Nova’s doing well. Chavez hit two HRs, Swisher a blast, 4-1 lead. the only blotch is Ibanez’s play in the outfield.
Alex Rodriguez tosses in their fourth solo HR today.
And Russell Martin their 5th.

Fun piece. I’ve only been to Fenway once, in 1986. It was a nice place to see a ballgame, but I wouldn’t want to go to the men’s room there.
Yeah, but I don’t judge a ballfield on the bathrooms. If I had to live there, yeah.
It’s a great field, feels like baseball oughta. The Monster is a wonderful, intriguing dimension.
Saw them give 5’2″ Freddie Patek a standing o when he hit one over the Monster.
Him sitting in the dugout crying was one of the iconic images of my baseball fandom.

Losing the ’78 playoffs to the Yankees, the second year in a row the Royals were beaten by the Yanks. That picture made the back page of the NY papers.
Googled it and it looks like he cried after the first loss in ’76 (and ’78 was the third straight year.)

Knowing you a little bit, Prof, I’d guess you didn’t like the choice of a waiver-claimed side-slinging rookie, and consider one squibbed single plenty of evidence for his withdrawal.

Ya got me all wrong! I find it ridiculous that a four-run lead with one baserunner demands using your best reliever. Anyone should be able to handle this.
