  1. Softball:

Walk off win. 1-3, single, BB, RBI, 2 R (including the game winner).

‘Looks like the Yanks will be a full-game up on Boston after tonight.

Ideally the Yanks can gain at least two more games on Boston before going into Fenway 8/30 then finally take two of three from Boston for a four-game lead through 9/1 with 27 games (a sixth of a season) left to play.

If that happens (Yanks up on Boston by 4 games through 9/1), 14-13 ball from the Yanks means Boston would have to play 18-9 / two wins every three games / .667 ball to win the division, better the better the Yanks do.

‘Way to alienate your $82.5M pitcher, Cashman.

Yes, Burnett is having a terrible August, but keep comments which could cause an even bigger firestorm around Burnett to yourself. This is just gasoline on the fire.

I will say LOL at him mentioning Oliver Perez, but even that’s uncalled for. GMs should keep their mouths shut about other players on other teams or unsigned guys. I doubt it’ll happen, but if Perez was reinvented into a LOOGY and became a really good one, Cashman will have one less guy who’d want to sign with the Yanks. Perez is by no means old or too old to salvage his career as he turned 30 last week.
