Freddy Garcia makes his return to the Yankees tonight after a “kitchen accident” sidelined him with a cut finger for the last two weeks. To make room on the roster, Hector Noesi was optioned down to the minors. Noesi has pitched to a 3.42/3.60/3.78 E/F/xF split while showing good control (2.85 BB/9) and the ability to keep the ball in the park (0.76 HR/9). He’s pitched pretty well considering his infrequent usage and I hope when he returns that he’ll be rewarded with a start or two.
Anyway, Garcia will try to beat this Oriole lineup:

3. Adam Jones, CF
4. Vladimir Guerrero, DH
5. Matt Wieters, C
6. Mark Reynolds, 1B

Simon and Garcia have been pitching very well. But Nick Swisherand Robbie Cano are getting the job done!
Swish is on fire right now. Side note – Manny Banuelos 7 innings tonight, 1 hit, six strikeouts. Against Pawtucket, too.
Great on Manny! Maybe they’ll let him have a curtain call with the Yankees after Scranton is finished.

‘Don’t know if anyone caught this, but there’s a recent article in the NY Post where Jim Palmer says he gave some pitching advice to Burnett. LOL considering the Yanks play the Os three more games next week and Burnett could start one of those games and use that advice to his advantage moreover help the Yanks beat the Os with it. I wonder if Palmer privately hates Angelos and the Os current regime under him because going out of your way to give an Os opponent’s pitcher esp. a Yankees pithcher, is a pretty ballsy move for a gamecaller to make. I can only guess Palmer thinks he’s untouchable and the funny thing is, he is or as close to being untouchable as one could get. Hopefully Burnett sears whatever Palmer, an EIGHT-TIME TWENTY-GAME WINNER, told him to do into his brain and uses as much of it as he can.
Anyone think YES would fire David Cone or Al Leiter if they gave pitching advice to an opposing team’s pitcher? I would imagine Yankees ownership would not be happy about it.
Btw late pass, I am beside myself re: Mike Flanagan. What happened? He made life miserable for many a Yankee fan but I’d have had him in Yankee Pinstripes in a heartbeat. RIP Flanny.
