Here’s an updated list of the Yankees 2011 draft signings so far. The news about Jordan Cote’s signing, the Yankees 3rd round selection, is the most recent to have occurred.

Here’s how the signings have done so far this year.

As far as I know, Rookie Davis and Hayden Sharp have yet to pitch in a game. Jordan Cote obviously just signed today. Sam Stafford is a bit of a puzzle right now. A few weeks ago, there were reports that he had signed. Since then, we’ve heard nothing. It looks like that original report was not true, at least according to Kevin Levine-Flandrup who covers the draft signings very closely. Those of you on twitter should definitely be following him.

  1. Yankee1010 says:

Cote’s bonus was for $725K, according to Law in his chat today.

As for Stafford, Kevin Levine-Flandrup posted an interview with Oppenheimer the other day that said that the Yankees give physicals before the deadline not so that there isn’t a time crunch, but to preserve players’ college eligibility. It also discussed how the Yanks will not mention if a player failed a physical because of HIPAA issues. Since they had seemingly agreed on a bonus and he took a physical, I think we can connect the dots enough to say that Stafford failed his physical, so he will return to Texas. Too bad, but at least the pick is protected.

  2. I’m pretty pumped for Cote.

  3. MJ Recanati says:

I know BA panned the pick but I’ve watched a fair amount of video on the kid Bird from Colorado and hope we sign him too.

Bummer to hear that Stafford might’ve failed his physical. One wonders, however, why the Yankees would’ve selected someone that was healthy enough to pitch in the CWS. What must’ve happened to him during the post-season?

  4. YankeesJunkie says:

Cote was favorite pick being an 18 yr old with a lot potential both physically and the amount of experience he will gain going south. Hopefully he can get at least one or two starts in the GCL before the year is out.

  5. David says:

Can you confirm that indeed Rookie Davis has “signed” with the Yankees. We have it that they have agreed to terms but nothing has been signed as of 8/11/11. If signed, where is he playing?

    Thanks
