The Yankees have the day off today. Hopefully the team uses the time to breathe some life back into the offense after Sunday’s Josh Beckett experience. The Yankees are back in action Tuesday, at home against the Orioles. A.J. Burnett toes the rubber for the bombers, while the division leading O’s counter with Chris Tillman. Use this as the open thread tonight. We can use Mark Teixeira as the conversation starter. After coming out of the gate strong, Tex is now batting .182/.325/.545, which isn’t as bad as it seems. That’s actually a 133 OPS+. After nine games last season he was hitting .091/.302/.121, which defies explanation. In 2009 he was hitting .194/.333/.548 through the first nine. So far 2011 looks a lot more like 2009.

stinksox getting lit up by the rays…what does that say for the yanks a day later..

    • I’m pretty OK if 1-8 Tampa beats up on 2-7 Boston for a couple of games. Really, there’s almost no bad outcome for the Yankees with these two teams — with their current records — playing each other this week.

    tuesday vs balt..jeter sits..posada sits..gardner sits..if i had the lineup card..

  3. The Yankees would light up Matsuzaka. Beckett was unhittable yesterday. When he’s got all his pitches working like that no one can hit him.
