The Yankees look to salvage a split of their 4 game series with the White Sox tonight, with CC Sabathia throwing the first pitch for the Yankees at 7:05. Here is the Yankees lineup:
Curtis Granderson CF
Nick Swisher RF
Robinson Cano 2B

There were two baseball stories that I read today that I found incredibly interesting, and I wanted to highlight them here.
The numbers behind a catch and a just-miss
Mark Simon had a great post this morning comparing the hang time on a game-changing bloop double the Yankees allowed to the Twins a few [...]
AAA- Scranton
Until the unfortunate “ball meets balls” incident, Jesus Montero was still raking albeit still without any walks. He’ll miss a few games to nurse his “situation” back to health… Justin Maxwell has been on fire. The way he’s getting on base and his streak of HRs is pretty [...]
Last year, I wrote about how 2010 AL run scoring was significantly depressed. AL batters scored 4.45 runs per game in 2010, down from 4.82 in 2010. In fairly robust 330 game span, here are the early returns from 2011:
AL batters have scored just 4.29 runs per game in 2011. [...]
A few days ago, I looked at Robinson Cano and his swing data. Cano’s hit well, but there are red flags in his swing profile so far this year. The problems have been masked a bit since Robbie’s been hitting, and that includes a three run home run last night.
This one was over in a hurry, as two strong starters were throwing strikes and working quickly. Mark Buehrle was good over seven innings of work, but Bartolo Colon was better. The portly right-hander pitched eight dominant innings of one-run baseball, allowing seven hits and just one walk on 99 [...]
Per Lohud, one of the myriad tests that Phil Hughes underwent indicated the possibility of a “circulatory problem.” Hughes will be going to see a specialist in St. Louis to get another opinion, but this is not a real encouraging development. Joe Girardi mentioned in his post0game press conference taht Hughes might have a [...]
There’s something I love about watching Bartolo Colon pitch. He seeks to right the ship against Mark Buerhle after a disappointing start to the White Sox series. The lineups:
Derek Jeter SS
Nick Swisher RF
Mark Teixeira 1B
Alex Rodriguez 3B
Robinson Cano 2B
Andruw Jones LF
Jorge Posada [...]
Here is the update, from Chad Jennings:
Girardi says nothing new on Hughes right now. Doc will be here later. Might have an update then.
Hughes underwent a second day of medical examinations today, with the team putting him through a battery of tests to see if they can find any sort of explanation [...]
(The following is being syndicated from The Captain’s Blog).
If Rafael Soriano felt unwanted at his introductory press conference, just imagine the thoughts going through his head as he walked off the mound to a chorus of 40,000 boos during yesterday’s 3-2 loss to the White Sox.
Amid all of the dissent, no one [...]
