Derek Jeter does not belong on the A.L. All-Star Team this year. If any Yankees do belong on it, and the decision had to be made who on the Yankees makes the team today, it should be Russell Martin, Robinson Cano, Curtis Granderson, Mariano Rivera, and if they keep pitching like they have, C.C. Sabathia and A.J. Burnett. Teixiera and A-Rod are too streaky for me to include them.

If Jeter is voted in, then the fans are truly clueless. Thankfully, Joe Torre is not managing this year’s N.L. All-Star team or Jeter would surely be on the roster as a reserve.

The writer is a typical sentimental idiot who thinks it’s 2009 or earlier.

Derek Jeter – an all star candidate? I hope not… the fans will lose any credibility, if they ever even had. It just goes to show that the all process is stupid, and it greatly diminishes the achievement of those worty players who deserved to be an all star.
the only good news is that the fans are not the ones to choose who goes into the hall of fame..

Derek Jeter as all-star? Yes, indeed. Our managing director of brand marketing thinks so anyway. He wrote an analysis of Jeter’s sports marketing value on our blog at http://luminositymarketing.com/blog/?p=5109.
