On every night throughout the year, one of the TYA writers will post a trivia question as the nightly open thread. The blog administrators will keep track of the winners, and the commenter with the most correct answers will win a prize that has yet to be decided upon. The answers will be posted in the following evening’s open thread.

Yesterday’s Question: Derek Jeter has played short stop for the Yankees every season since 1996. During that stretch he’s been an All Star 11 times. Who was the last short stop to represent the Yankees in the All Star game before the Captain?

Answer: Bucky Dent (1981)

Today’s Question: Brian Cashman recently quelled rumors that the Yankees were interested in signing Oliver Perez. To date, 55 pitchers have pitched for both the Yankees and Mets. Can you name the nine pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings for both teams?

Open question for Mo, or any of the other lawyers out there.

Why is Greg Anderson in jail? For not cooperating with a federal probe? It would seem to me if you don’t want to testify, you don’t have to. I know the 5th amendment applies to self incrimination, but if you’re sent to jail for not incriminating someone else, isn’t it effectively the same principle?

There has to be something I’m missing here.

    • Moshe Mandel says:

He’s refusing to testify about anything, which essentially puts him in contempt of court. The 5th amendment only protects you for refusing to testify about yourself. Refusing to testify about someone else is not protected.

      • Steve S. says:

Prosecutor: Tell us how and when you trafficked in steroids, a banned substance under federal law which carries years of jail time if convicted.

        Greg A: Sorry, I can’t do that.

Prosecutor: OK, that’s fine. Tell us all about Barry Bonds, who was a low level user and if caught wouldn’t be fined in most states.

Greg A: Sorry, I can’t do that either.

Prosecutor: OK, NOW were throwing you in jail!
