On every weeknight during Spring Training, one of the TYA writers will post a trivia question as the nightly open thread. The blog administrators will keep track of the winners, and the commenter with the most correct answers will win a prize that has yet to be decided upon. The answers will be posted in the following evening’s open thread.

Yesterday’s Question: In honor of Curtis Granderson’s birthday, name the 7 players who have hit 20 doubles, 20 triples, and 20 home runs in the same season. Which 4 also had 20 steals? Which 2 had 30-30 (homers and steals) seasons in the same year as their 20-20-20-20 season?

Answers:
Jimmy Rollins (2007) / 30-30
Willie Mays (1957) / 30-30
Curtis Granderson (2007) / 20 SB
Frank Schulte (1911) / 20 SB
Jeff Heath (1941)
George Brett (1979)
Jim Bottomley (1928)

Today’s question: Since Derek Jeter’s rookie season in 1996, 28 other players have started at least one game in the leadoff slot for the Yankees. How many can you name off the top of your head?

By the way, while all the analysts/writers here are very good, I think you are the best. I love your work. I think you have a bright future in the business.

Thanks for the kind words…I really appreciate it. Everyone has a style that appeals most to certain people. TYA is lucky to have a lot of quality and variety.

      • Brads says:

True–I love some of the unusual stuff you have written like the 112 year retrospective on Yankees ST…I think you also wrote the Dillinger piece, and Billy Sunday pieces as well IIRC. All great stuff…the stuff books are made of..
