"They only live to get radical"
A lot of news here, so let’s touch on that immediately.
The Yankees did the following:
-Cut Ronnie Belliard
- Sent Jesus Montero to AAA and Austin Romine to AA
- Sent Justin Maxwell, Doug Bernier and Ramiro Pena to AAA
- Sold Romulo Sanchez to a Japanese team
- Added Eric Chavez to the 40 man roster
No big surprises here if you’ve been following for the past week or so. Ramiro did what Ramiro do this spring, which is not hit at all and the Yankees obviously thought Nunez was a better fit for the bench. I concur. I imagine we’ll be seeing Jesus Montero again sometime soon. I know I’m in the minority here but I still like the idea of him getting regular at bats. Notes also had that Mark Prior will be added to the AAA squad as soon as the weather turns nice. Boy, that’s a pretty good arrangement- it was 37 degrees in Scranton today.
Anyway, we’re having our 3rd and final (I think) fantasy draft at 8 tonight. If you’re in it, I recommend you show up lest your auto draft team include Johan Santana, Steven Strasburg, Adam Wainwright and Chase Utley. Also I’ll be serenading the group with Point Break quotes again, so everyone wins.
Here are my quick nominees for best fantasy names:
Bodhi’s Bandits (obviously)
Big G’s S*@tloaders
Colon Problem
Daniel Plainview
Stairs way to Heaven
Barry Bail Bonds
Jesus Mo and Joe’s Binder
The Runaway winner however is “Welcome To Sea World” in a blowout. Not even close.
And……here were some not so hot names….from TYA members….Yikes:
Mo Money No Problems (GET IT!?! THEY’RE BOTH NAMED MO! LOLZ!!)
wOBA is Me (Matt Imbrogno, you’re embarrassing our site, stop it immediately)
Whatever Stephen Rhoads chose, for any league, ever.

after today: Ray Guns.
Two Things:
1) What is Point Break?
2) Mo Money Mo Problems is a classic rap song. You dare not besmirch it.
If you have to ask about Point Break, we’re no longer friends.
Sean,
I was keen to join the 3rd fantasy league but when I tried on Sunday evening (UK time) Yahoo! told me that I couldn’t join. I guess it was already maxed out.
Not much longer now before the season opener, but if a 4th league DOES happen to open, I’d be very keen to join it.
Thanks
Tim
Yeah if there is enough interest I will set one up for Wednesday night or something, I know a few people tried to get into this last one. To be Determined.
I think my team name, “What Would Montero Do”, is pretty darn good.
I’m only playing in one league this year: a 5×5 12 team league between some friends and I. I’ve never been great at fantasy baseball, but I’m really confident in this team:
1b Justin Morneau
2b Brian Roberts
SS Jose Reyes
3b Alex Rodriguez
C Mike Napoli
OF Ryan Braun
OF Andre Ethier
OF Vlad Guerrero
Util Kendry Morales
Util Jose Tabata
BN Coco Crisp
BN Jesus Montero
SP Justin Verlander
SP Max Scherzer
SP Ted Lilly
RP JJ Putz
RP Jonathan Broxton
P Joel Hanrahan
P Javy Vazquez
P Travis Wood
BN Brandon Beachey
BN Ervin Santana
Ended up with a weird team in the league I just drafted tonight. I basically just punted the middle infield positions and catcher until late. It’s a keeper league. I went a little pitcher-crazy early, which I think may not have been the best move.
1b Adrian Gonzalez
2b Howie Kendrick
SS Ian Desmond
3b Alex Rodriguez
OF Jay Bruce
OF BJ Upton
OF Colby Rasmus
Util Michael Stanton
Util Ike Davis
SP Jon Lester
SP Clayton Kershaw
RP Joel Hanrahan
RP Kyle Farnsworth
P Yovani Gallardo
P Brett Anderson
P Trevor Cahill
P Tyler Clippard
BN Gaby Sanchez
BN Grady Sizemore
BN Jesus Montero (had to)
BN Frank Francisco
BN Ryan Madson

woohoo! My team names were neither terrible enough nor notable enough to be mentioned! Flying under the radar, baby :)
I’m honored to be your choice for best team name Sean…and I’m ready to get radical this season
