Just a quick heads up, I received a call from Joe & Evan producer Pete Bilotti this afternoon, and the segment has been rescheduled for 2:00 on Thursday. So tune in if you can, it should be fun.

I’m a bit worried by Evan saying it’ll mostly be Joe ripping on you.

    • Steve S. says:

Did Evan say that or someone else? I’m not on Twitter.

      • Moshe Mandel says:

Evan on Twitter. He plugged it, someone said “you lost listener with that faulty stuff” and Evan said something along the lines of , it’ll be fun, just Joe ripping on him.

  2. Matt Imbrogno says:

Steve, I didn’t mention this the other day: make sure to mention the + stats and how good they are for comparing eras/players and what not.

  3. Kenny says:

Congrats on the spot! Unfortunately they didn’t given you much of a chance at all to say anything about actual stats, but nice job trying. I haven’t really listened to WFAN much over the past few years (I used to listen a lot more). Beningo goes out of his way to complain about stats when he clearly has no clue at all what he’s talking about. I think he was basically giving you an opening though to explain about the benefits of UZR when he was complaining about how errors and fielding percentage don’t reflect range — well, that’s exactly why we need UZR. But I guess with those guys as hosts, only so much you can do. At least they gave you the opportunity and they do clearly respect you even if they don’t care enough to try to understand the stats. (And truthfully, when their *job* is sports, they should at least put in some effort to do so.)

    • Steve S. says:

It was a lot of fun, and both of them were very warm and gracious hosts. I know they were busting my chops at the end, but in case you haven’t noticed they bust on each other, as does the morning show all day long. That doesn’t bother me, and doing live radio in NY was the thrill of a lifetime.

    what did we learn today?

Everyone thinks UZR sucks — and Evan thinks Steve S. needs to get out of the house more.

    oh well…

    • Steve S. says:

I had a blast, and I learned that people take what goes on in radio much more seriously than the guys who are broadcasting. It was all in good fun, and my life is just fine.
