Larry, MJR, and I will wax poetic about what the Boss meant to us later on, but we here at Yankeeist would like to extend our deepest sympathies to the Steinbrenners, and the entire Yankee Universe.

Ever the polarizing figure, one thing about George Steinbrenner could not be ignored: he knew what the fans wanted, and he did everything within (and sometimes beyond) his power to make that happen. He took over a team that CBS had run into the ground, and led them back to glory. For that, we as Yankee fans should all be eternally grateful.
Thank you, Mr. Steinbrenner.
