Here are the Phillies’ numbers against Pettitte (postseason included), via Baseball-Reference.
Here are the Yankees’ numbers against Martinez (postseason included), via Baseball-Reference.
Jayson Werth is highlighted because of his strange yet powerful line (.188 OBP and .750 SLG). Pettitte will need to be careful with him (curveballs away). Alex Rodrigez is highlighted because of his successful numbers against Pedro. He hasn’t exhibited much power against him, but he seems to see the ball well. For that reason, I’ll predict a big night for Alex. I also think Mark Teixeira will finally bust out with a home run (he’s due). Let’s go, Yankees.
No excuses, play like a champion.

“We play today, we win today. Dasit.”
Damon’s hurt (Calf) and Hairston is in LF…
Matsui for MVP!!!!!
…and they gave it to him!! The Yankees have to bring him back over Damon now!
Great crowd tonight. So fitting if Andy wins it and we beat Pedro… at home.
Howard finally wakes up, hopefully too late
Joba looks tough- throwing 95 low in the zone – hitting corners
He also had no control at all towards the end of his outing and was missing away with everything badly.
I thought he might have been squeezed on a couple of those, but yes, he was not as effective in the second inning.
Odds Matsui hits a triple (with another 2 rbis) for the cycle?
Pettite gave us what we needed, time for the Pen to give us one more inning before Mo time.
Godzilla is so locked in right now, it’s absolutely sick, but a triple? With those gimpy knees, someone would have to fall down in the outfield for that to happen. :-)
The outfield would have to die for that to happen haha.
Whoever had Damaso Marte in the pool for most reliable playoff bullpen contributor not named Mariano Rivera is either a mad genius or a big, fat liar.
C’mon MO, take us home!!!
one down!!! two to go!!!
One more out for a 27th championship!!
speechless
Yankeees Wim theeeeeeee Yankeeeeeees Win!!!!
vindication for Joe G, Hal, and Brian Cashman. Well done, gentlemen. They all stuck to their guns amidst aggressive criticism. Congratulations to the whole organization.
