  1. I hope CC gets a HR in game 4!

  2. I’ve read people saying Blanton’s numbers against the Yankees are a little skewed and while they are it’s not like he was that far away from his bad game in the other starts against the Yankees.

    Blanton’s last 3 starts

    June 12, 2008 6.2 IP, 6 H, 4 ER, 3BB, 1 HR
    April 14, 2007 6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 1 HR
    May 14, 2005 2.2 IP, 7 H, 9 ER, 3 BB, 2 HR

He had the one really terrible start but in everyone there was a recipe for disaster… He gives up 5+ hits per start, he walks 3 people per start and they hit at least 1 HR in all 3 games. This is a guy who can’t overpower you with his fastball, he doesn’t have the best command so you can work walks off if him, he is very vulnerable to the HR (30 on the year) and he relies on his defense getting outs because the ball is going to be put into play. He is basically the perfect pitcher for the Yankees to feast on they work walks, they hit for power and when you make them put the ball in play they usually get hits.

  3. More than ever this has become the right decision, of CC can beat Blanton (which he should) then it gives us the advantage of being able to pitch Burnett and Sabathia in games 6 and 7 and use Gaudin in game 5… If we are up 3-1 there is no reason to rush AJ to the hill in Philadelphia when he is facing the ace of the phils and would need a miracle to win anyway, now you can start him on full rest against Pedro at home and if he can’t close it out you have CC against Hamels in game 7.
