From Steve Lombardi:

Since 2007, CC Sabathia has started against the Minnesota Twins seven times and has never had a game against them where he’s faced less than 25 batters in the process. Further, in these seven games, Sabathia has never allowed more than two earned runs in any of these contests.

In the last seven times Sabathia has faced the Twins, he’s thrown at least seven innings in the game while allowing one earned run or less in the game five times.

Furthermore, the highest OPS for a hitter on the Twins with more than 10 AB’s against CC is Michael Cuddyer’s .595. Joe Mauer has a line of .217/.280/.261 against Sabathia, and Orlando Cabrera and Delmon Young are even worse. There is no doubt about it, the Yankees should have a huge edge on the mound in tonight’s game. Let’s hope that CC comes through.

CC seems to be a guy that comes up big in big games, will he to-night? I guess we can all hope he will but, we will find out to-night…good luck CC!

  2. Tom Gaffney says:

That’s a sick matchup if those numbers bear out: doubly sick since the Twins don’t get to match up their own “ace” against him. It’s triply sick, b/c he gets to pitch in half the games if the series goes 4 games.
