Here are the Angels’ numbers against Pettitte (postseason included).

Here are the Yankees’ numbers against Saunders (postseason included).

I’m expecting a big game out of Alex Rodriguez, who is 7-for-17 against Saunders, with 2 home runs and 2 doubles. Also, Andy is searching for his 16th postseason win, which would make him the all-time leader. If he struggles or if the game remains close upon his exit, the Yankees could use A.J. Burnett as a reliever tonight. According to Andy McCullough (Star-Ledger), Burnett skipped his bullpen session on Friday in preparation for a relief appearance over the weekend. Girardi says that he could use him for one out or more—it depends on the situation—so that’s definitely something to keep in mind.

Let’s go, boys. A win tonight would prevent us all from having heart attacks tomorrow.

I have never ever seen a team commit two consecutive errors on sacrifice bunts before. That was amazing.

  2. Tom Gaffney says:

How weird is it that the Yanks have played back-to-back teams that have the reputations of being incredibly fundamentally solid, yet they’ve given the Bombers run after run with sloppy defense and given away run after run with sloppy baserunning.

  3. Tom Gaffney says:

fate? maybe, but I hope we give fate a little boost by getting some hits with guys on base.

I questioned the Mo for 2 idea, but it worked out. Congratulations, NY Yankees. 4 more games!!!! I love watching these postgame celebrations. Too bad Boss can’t be part of them anymore. It was cool watching him bawl his eyes out every year.

  5. Mark Da Rosa says:

I don’t think that Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are happy that the Yankees advanced. Throughout the game they were making comments about how if the Phillies come back and win it it would have been because of Posada grounding into the double play when the Yankees were on top, as well as stating how the Yankees caught breaks throughout the game and took advantage of them.
