Tejeda, like Joba, can be filthy if everything clicks. Let’s hope that’s not the case tonight as the Yankees seek victory number 103.

Well tonight could be a very low scoring high K game or it could be a high scoring game where Joba and Tejeda walk the ball parl!

Joba doesn’t have much fastball control early on but he has cranked it up to 94 and 93 a couple of times in the 2nd, and the slider and curve look like they are decent enough so it will depend on what kind of adjustments he makes after this inning.

I wonder if he just gets too amped in the first inning.

      • The other Chris H says:

His control was a little bit better in the first than it was in the second, and I would think it is the opposite because if it was because he was amped up you would think he would be throwing quite a bit harder in the first than the rest of the game and Joba seems to work in reverse of that and throw harder with better control later. Maybe he has to work himslef into a groove and when he starts out he doesn’t have a rhythm for his mechanics.

Johnny has been in a slump for a while now…

I have always liked Tejeda he has good strike out stuff both out of the pen and starting but he is a reliever at heart.

I wonder if coming into the last game of the year in the regular season for you and it being against the Royals if Joba came into this game thinking he could save his arm and not get hurt now that the playoffs are so close.

Control was better in first, velocity about the same… 90-92 avg

I know you paid good money to go see the Yankees and to watch Chamberlain pitch like that is really frustrating, but yelling and booing and saying nasty things as a guy comes off the field isn’t going to help him do better next time, if anything it will only tear someone with a great future down.

    • Chris H. says:

When I saw Joba pitch against Texas, I believe, a few weeks ago, it was probably the worst experience I’ve ever had at a Yankees a game. He was awful and I can understand why people might get upset. I think you have to look at it from their perspective. They paid good money to see a crisp, clean game, and Joba really gives them the opposite. Watching a guy walk people, go into deep count after deep count, it’s a lot worse when you’re actually there.

I’ve been to many baseball games with the exact same results in a normal town with normal expectation and no one made those openly angry sounds at a 24 year old kid who is someone son. You have a right to be angry but do you really think that will make it better? Do you really believe he will think next time “oh they boo when your bad, my bad I better win”. No if anything he just wont want to go back out with that in his head. You don’t have the right to yell shit at someone just because you paid for the ticket, for someone reason fans think they are part of the game, maybe next time Joba does bad we can run out on the field and take turns punching him in the face because I think that will turn him around and even if it doesn’t I paid good money to go to the game so I have the right to do what the fuck I want at all times.
