“I may not have been the greatest Yankee to put on the uniform, but I am the proudest”-Billy Martin on August 10, 1986

We go for the division clincher and win #100 tomorrow afternoon with Paul Byrd facing Andy Pettitte. Whatever happens in the playoffs, it’s been a magical year.

Root for a Texas win tonight. If Texas beats the Rays, then there’s no way the Red Sox can clinch the Wild Card while in Yankee stadium, unless tomorrows Yanks-Sox game goes into extra innings and Texas loses a quickie (3:05 start). If Texas loses tonight and the Sox win tomorrow, then they would clinch a tie for the Wild Card.

UPDATE-Texas beat the Rays 15-3, so the celebration will be all ours with a win tomorrow.

There is no way Paul Byrd can beat the Yankees, the only way we lose this game is if Pettitte just throws up an ugly pitching performance and can’t hold them in the yard. A guy throwing 87 MPH fastballs against the team who swings at the least amount of pitches out of the zone in MLB is not a good combination for the pitcher he has to pitch in the zone at 87… good luck! We may lose but Byrd won’t win I will guarantee that!
