Jesus Montero exited yesterday’s game after being hit in the left hand while catching a pitch from Lance Pendleton. Now, according to Pete Abraham, it appears as though Montero will miss the rest of the minor-league season with a fractured middle finger. The estimated recovery time for the injury is 4-6 weeks. Tough break for Montero, who had a great year.

Does he start in AA or AAA next spring?

Triple A for sure! He was tearing up double A pitching and was really developing his defense while catching every day, I would expect Romine to start at Double and Jesus at Triple.

Well this should serve as his downtime. I’m sure he can make up for time lost in a winter league. It would be smart of the Yanks to send him off with a special instructor during the offseason.

He should play some OF too.

I’m not really sure he is fast enough to chase down balls he should stick to trying to be a catcher and if he out grows it just DH him, no reason to lose that bat because you can’t find a position.

This was a bad weekend. That God that Melky came through. Montero really could have used those last games at AA. Very sad to see his season end. Hopefully, Jackson can come on now. What is the story with McAllister? Is he done for the year too?

He really didn’t “need” those games as far as his development goes at least not with his bat, anything he wold have learned he can do in winter ball and should pick up next year in triple A where left off this year in Double A.

The last thing I read about McAllister was here:

From Mike Ashmore at Thunder Thoughts 7/28/09:

“Zach McAllister needs “a little more time” to return from his dead arm, according to Franklin.”

    Thank you.
