From Pete Abraham:

“This hip injury for me was kind of a blessing in disguise,” Rodriguez said yesterday. “It really kind of gave me a chance to refocus and rethink things, to take basically a timeout from all the white noise I created for myself over the last year and a half. I feel like now I have the opportunity to play baseball.

“The gift that God gave me is to play baseball, not to talk or explain myself.”

Rodriguez returned to the team in May and has been a very good player, hitting 20 home runs and driving in 62 runs. But he is no longer the focal point as other players define the team’s personality. Rodriguez is what he always claimed he wanted to be: Just one of the boys.

Prior to the season, when A-Rod talked about shutting up and becoming just one of the pack, many writers scoffed and suggested that is would be easier said then done. Yet here we are on the ninth of August, and Alex has yet to put his foot in his mouth or make a spectacle of himself at any point this season. His play on the field has been all that we have seen of Alex Rodriguez, and it has made for a much better vibe emanating from the clubhouse. Hopefully he keeps it up through the remainder of his contract, and leaves the talking and speculating to the media. As he says, he has a gift, and he should stick to it.

6 Responses to A-Rod Letting Bat Speak For Him

After he hit the walkoff HR the first guy to greet him was Tex he gave him a hug that wasn’t contrived at all. This team has rallied behind each other best Yankees team since 2003 because it actually looks and feels like one.Even in years past when they were winning the energy is just different.Remember A-Rod and Tex hated each other supposedly…lol. The steroid scandal has seemingly humbled A-Rod and with good character acquisitions the team is rolling.

I always thought Tex and Arod had mutual respect for one another I never believed they had problems, the way Tex talked about Alex when he signed with the club just seemed genuine.

A-Rod must be reading this blog.
It has been posted before; “A-Rod doesn’t have the education or the panache of players of Jeters caliber, therefore he will say things that he shouldn’t.” Or words to that effect, close enough…good going A-Rod.

Well anyone who wants to call Alex unclutch should take a look at the scoreboard and realize the guy is one of the top 5 hitters in the history of baseball and his numbers will prove him to be the best statistically at some point in the near future.

Why didn’t Girardi go to Hughes to face Pedroia and Martinez after Coke got out Ellsbury? He only used Hughes for 1/3 of an inning in both of his last 2 appearances and should have been available to pitch and especially since it’s only 2/3 inning of work to do, and now we are losing by one run going into the bottom of the 8th. I don’t blame Girardi if we lose but he has mixed and matched pitchers all year until the one time it bites back… I guess hind sight is 20/20 but I was positive Hughes was coming in after Coke got the first out.

What a way for the offense to pick up Coke and Girardi to a degree, this offense can bang with anyone at anytime and our pitching staff is good enough to keep us in games long enough to get the big hits… everyone is looking good in this series!
