My Yankee Fantasy
The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond move
With the Yanks riding high in first place for the first time in about a year and a half, I wanted to have a little fun today. I have a fantasy about the Yanks, one I’ve had since early in the season.
It’s Game 7 of the ALCS at Yankee stadium. Yanks (of course) playing the Red Sox. Game is tied 3-3 in the 8th inning. Brett Gardner hits a 1 out double that’s really a single but JD Drew bobbles the play, and gritty gutty Brett stretches it out to two with some heads up base running and blazing speed.
Then Melky hits a slow roller to 2B, advancing Brett to 3B. Captain Clutch Derek Jeter is due up next, so Tito calls on Paps for the hold with the tie game on the road.
Corky Romano psp Paps is on the mound, sneering and snorting as usual. Jeter steps into the batter’s box. Then just as Paps goes into his delivery, Brett Gardner breaks from Third base. The pitch is a splitter, which Varitek has trouble handling. Gardner slides into home, Varitek tags him before he reaches the plate, but the umpire yells ‘Safe!’. Varitek looks down and realizes the ball is laying on the ground behind him, he rushed the play and lost the ball. Yankee Stadium is up for grabs.
Mo comes in to save the game, and the 2009 Yanks advance to the World Series to face the Joe Torre and the LA Dodgers, who they sweep in 4 blowouts.
That’s my fantasy. What’s yours?
(BTW-Extra points for creativity)

For all of you who want Youkilis to be standing at Third when this happens, sorry but he’s not playing. He was plunked in the noggin by Joba in Game 4 and missed the rest of the series.
My fantasy, I get to make up what happens.
I like the ida of game 7 in Fenway Oark and its the top 10-Yankees down by one run and Tex is up and into save the game is Bard(red sox new lovechild) Pap blew the lead in the top 9 Gardner has singled and Bard tries to blow tex away with 100mph heat and tex takes him deep to right. The fans do a collective sigh-mo comes on in the ninth and the last out is reserved for our very special friend Jacoby Ellsbury who flies out to our hmegrown centerfielder Brett Gardner and the Yankees celebrate the pennant in Fenway park.
Very nice. I L-O-V-E those groans from the fans in Fenway Park.
My fantasy is that the Yankees beat the Rangers in the LDS and Detroit in the LCS. Boston gets an early tee time, as they get eliminated from the wild card race in favor of the Angels on the last day of the season. Theo Epstein and Larry Lucchino hold a press conference, and are forced to admit that the Yankees are better. John Henry twitters a congrats to the Yankees, while Peter Gammons cries himself to sleep.
Agree with all of these, except I’m watching with Megan Fox, who’s just got me beer.
My fantasy is the least amount of stress and the easist wins. So mine involves beating Minny and then Texas. Then beating Milwaukee in the World Series.
And to Chris, you have Megan Fox over and you are watching baseball? Really?
Hmm… well… it is the 8th inning of game 7, against Boston, scores tied… no, you’re right, I’m off, I can catch the highlights on ESPN.
Any fantasy involving Melky is delusional.
Melky batting in between Gardner and Jeter? That must mean someone’s hurt in the playoffs.
My Take: Gardner leads off with a slow roller to 2B that he just beats out; steal second with Jeter up. Jeter advances the runner with a scorcher to the right side. Johnny Damon Ks with Gardner on 3rd. Tex walks and then with RF Austin Jackson on deck (Pinch ran for Posada in the 8th), Arod sends an invite to Joe Torre and the Dodgers with a 3 run bomb of Paps.
My fantasy has game 7 being played in Yankee Stadium against the Red Sox. The Yankees are doen by 3 runs going into the 9th inning and Papeldouche walks the bases loaded.
A-Rod is at the plate with the bases loaded after having a mediocre playoffs thus far. He hits a popup to foul territory in shallow right field. It reaches the seats but it is still close enough to the field so that JD Drew could reach into the stands and catch it. Unfortunately for him, Jeffrey Maier is sitting in the front row and pushes Drew’s glove out of the way to make an attempt at catching the ball.
A-Rod is saved and is given a second chance in the at-bat. After Paps spazzes out because he thinks that the foul ball should have been an out, he loses his composure and throws a fastball right down the middle of the plate. A-Rod hits an opposite field home run right to the bleachers. The stadium goes nuts and the walk-off home run sends A-Rod on an amazing streak of dominance through the World Series.
I really hope he has success in the playoffs this year…it would do a lot for his status with the Yankee fans.
hmmm… im with chris my baseball fantsy involves megan fox..and vey little baseball
Game 7 of ALCS, top 9, Yankees down 5-1 in Boston. Hideki Okajima comes in to put them away, but gives up singles to A-rod and Posada, then Matsui homers around Pesky’s Pole. Now 5-4, Pap is brought in to save it. He gets quick outs from Cano and Melky, and gets Gardner to go 0-2, but Gardner works him for a 9 pitch walk. With Jeter up, Gardner steals second and advances to third on a throwing error by Varitek. Then Jeter triples over Ellsbury’s head in center, tying the game at 5. Johnny Damon, ex-Red Sox player and Yankee killer, homers to right. Yankees win 7-5 as Mo strikes out Youkilis, Lowell, and then Ortiz to end it. They go on to sweep the Dodgers as the Yankees out score Torre’s team 36-4. Jeter wins ALCS and World Series MVPs, with a BA of .545, 5 HR and 23 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.098.
For all of you who want Youkilis to be standing at Third when this happens, sorry but he’s not playing. He was plunked in the noggin by Joba in Game 4 and missed the rest of the series.

But if he is at third, they get into a screaming match in the dugout after the game…can’t you reconsider? Imagine the egos at play here. You’re leaving so much out. Please. Please. You can’t have a fantasy like this and NOT SHARE.
Here, let me share this with you:
