Blood Crime rip I am inclined to agree with Cashman. Looking at the statistics to this point, the Yankees hitters are all average or better for their positions. With players such as Brett Gardner, Ramiro Pena, and Frankie Cervelli excelling off the bench and Xavier Nady returning, it seems like the Yankees have the right personnel to be an offensive powerhouse. For that matter, a quick look at the roster shows very few holes or places that you are likely to improve upon in a trade. Looking over these lists of available infielders
and outfielders The Bridge to Nowhere dvdrip , I see very few names that would measurably increase the Yankees chances of nabbing a playoff spot. The pitching looks much better of late, although CM Wang is still a question mark. If he falters, the Yankees would just move Phil Hughes to the rotation, making an additional bullpen arm the only possible need for this team, barring injury, when the trade deadline rolls around. The pieces are all on the roster, and they just need to play up to their capabilities.

Gardner needs to be on the field to make the offense click on all cylinders.
We have statistical offensive players but too many guys are looking for the 3 run HR with nobody on base.
The only thing I worry about is Phil. Not becasue he hasn’t been doing a good job, obviously he has been great, but I want to see him getting prepared to start for close to 200 innings next year. It would be nice to see us replace his spot in the Pen with someone who can perform at his level. Obviously there would be a trade required here. I’m not banking on Marte getting back to form soon.

Sorry, couldn’t resist… The one position where I think the Yankees are deficient (not joking) is at 3B. Need to shore up that position and the offense there. Not that I think or expect them to make any moves there, just continuing to point out the emperor has no clothes, but wishing he would put something on. :o)

I think 3B is a huge issue for the Yankees going forward. If you look at Mike Lowell and Chase Utley over the last few years defensively before hip surgery compared to now both have seen there UZR and UZR/150 drop drastically. Both however are hitting well. So does Alex need to move to the outfield?
Just as Joe Girardi can take some credit for motivating the team yesterday by getting thrown out of the game, I’d like to personally take credit for motivating A-Rod and his 3-5 performance with an HR and 4 RBIs from calling him out here in this forum. That was my plan all along. :o)
I thought the cheap shot at A-Rod was very much over the top for Pete L but, much like him to hit a guy when he is down.
A-Rod is not having any ill effects from his Rod use of years ago…why you ask? Because everyone that used to any degree (more then A-Rod says he did), had problems soon (within a year) of going off of them…not 3-5 years later. So, I wish people would get off this Rod thing as an excuse for his slump.
His hip is not giving him the movement and athleticism he is use to having…it looks like to me. Give him time to come around, he will…after all, the hit last night was to the other side, not pulled. Maybe my optimism but, I am sure he will come around.
That assumes that A-Rod was telling the truth and stopped taking roids (or HGH) before he came to the Yankees. Clearly, with Manny’s positive test, it shows that major leaguers are still on the juice even though testing is more comprehensive, so frankly I don’t buy the argument that A-Rod has been clean as a Yankee. I hope he’s clean and that his 2007 performance is indicative of what he’s capable of as a clean player, but I’m skeptical by nature. So, I don’t believe it is a stretch to suggest that his decline in 2009 is solely due to his hip injury. I hope it’s not a sign of a permanent decline, I truly do, it just feels at the moment like perhaps it is a sign of things to come.
A-Rod has been tested (without warning) ever sence he has been a Yankee…two or three time a year. This Per the Yankees Team. So I don’t see how he could still be useing, do you?
Come on now. There’s still no testing for HGH, because that can only be detected with a blood test and the players union still refuses to allow that. Just because A-Rod has not tested positive for steroids doesn’t mean he’s not doing something. Let’s all be clear, the testing program is better than nothing, but it’s got a long way to go before it truly proves anyone is clean. That being said, I want to be clear, I hope A-Rod is clean, I’m just skeptical.

I am, by nature, the most critical and least trusting person around…went with the job I had for many years.
Knowing that, I have been trying to be more Optimistic.
So, being optimistic, I will believe he is and has been clean…as a Yankee. Conversely if I find proof of miss deeds; hell has no fury as an Irishman pissed off.
