As we had advocated earlier today, Bryan Hoch is reporting that Edwar Ramirez was the one to lose his job upon the return of Brian Bruney. We were actually hoping that they would DFA Veras as well, but Joe Girardi obviously believes that the club can get Jose back to where he was at the start of last season. Let’s hope he is right.

  1. Eric Schultz says:

This makes sense. I think Veras is redeemable, and his raw stuff is great, but he shouldn’t be used in high-leverage situations until he shows better control. If they DFA’d Veras, he’d most likely get claimed, but this way they can keep Veras and not lose Edwar permanently.

Veras’s delivery looks like it will never repeat.I won’t miss Edwar.

They both suck and both should be gone. The fact that Veras gets chance after chance while Melancon and Robertson were buried is infuriating.

  4. Leftylarry says:

I’d use Veras when I wanted to brush a guy back or hit him with a pitch and that’s it.He looks like he’d be good for bench clearing brawls after he whacks a Red Sock with a 95 MPH heater in retaliation for hitting Jeter.

  5. Ron E. says:

Edwar has regressed a little from last season, but I’d much rather see him or Robertson in there than Veras.
