The inability of the Yanks to sell their high priced seats and luxury boxes goes from embarrassing to comical. David Cone is now calling potential clients on prerecorded voicemails and making live calls as well, trying to get those expensive items sold.

“Fortunately, I am the soft-sell guy,” Cone told The Post.

“I meet and greet. I give tours. But it’s not like I’m making cold calls or anything. I don’t think I alone have changed anyone’s mind.”

Cone said that he volunteered for the job and that, in return for calling and schmoozing with potential luxury-seat and box customers, the Yankees are providing his foundation and other charities he works with the use of luxury boxes for certain games.

I got one of these calls the other day. It didn’t bother me so much when he wanted me to buy a Luxury Box. But when he pitched me a timeshare in Florida, that was a bit much.
