Brett Tomko Added, David Robertson Optioned
Peter Abraham has the news. The Yankees continue to puzzle me. After Robertson did such a good job cleaning up for Mark Melancon the other day, they send him down. Meanwhile, Edwar Ramirez, Jose Veras, and Jon Albaladejo are stinking up the middle innings. Robertson is now and in the future the better pitcher.
Albaladejo and Edwar have options. No word on the 40-man change. Its probably not Berroa, unless the Yankees have added another player to the 25-man roster that we don’t know about. I’m guessing that Xavier Nady hits the 60-day.

Am I the only one that thinks who cares if Veras gets exposed to waivers,
I care a little more now that Melancon showed some nerves.
I dont really get the moves that they keep making, what is the point of sending them back to Scranton, they will dominate the hitters there as usual, other than getting more innings, do they have anything else to prove in the minors?
More then likely but, understandable from his performance this year. There are a lot of good things to like from this guy, when he puts it together again.
Is Kennedy a candidate for 60 day DL?
Forgot about him. Yeah, he is.
and it’s probably that, too. that way, the Yankees can keep Berroa, who (for some reason) they have some irrational lovefest towards it seems.
I mean, dumping Jackson in favor of Berroa? seriously?
per Chad Jennings, it was Eric Hacker who was DFA’d
Mike A. at RAB said something interesting during his chat yesterday…in essence, if the Yankees needed to make another 40 man move, who would go. What was interesting was his response…attempting to do a release/re-sign tactic with Garcia, a la Humberto (assuming Garcia consented.)
interesting thing to ponder nonetheless. but since it was Hacker instead…what are the chances he stick with the organization?
And 2 straight days where someone the Yankees promoted to the 40 man roster this past off-season got removed.
last minute addendum – why did they DFA Hacker anyway? I mean, Kennedy can be moved to the 60 day DL, opening up a 40 man spot.
I don’t think Kennedy can go on the 60-day DL because he’s not on the major league roster. Not 100% sure on that one.
Yup.
They could add him to the major league roster for a game and then DL him, I think. They may not actually need to do it for a game. He’s out for a few months at least.
ah, good point.
I am not confident right now on the moves the Yankees have been making, their evaluation of the talent they have (how they can keep going to the same well with Veras, Ramirez etc) because based on performance they ought to be sent down (and take the risk of losing Veras) and begin to develop Melanson & Robertson not only because their upside is great but I believe they have the stuff to make a real difference this year. I do begin to wonder about Eilands ability to develop the pitchers on the major league level in real time ( Hughes is an example Eiland does not seem to help during the game in helping them make the right adjustments)
