The guys over at River Ave Blues took a look at Wang’s fastball last night using MLB.com’s p/fx data. Its a great read that I highly recommend.

Wang is one pitcher where an analysis of pitch/fx is most telling. His 4-seam fastball and 2-seam fastball were almost identical. This happens every once in awhile, and although it is disconcerting at the beginning of the season, it isn’t unreasonable to allow Wang some time to get himself in order. Wang maintained a consistent release point and velocity all start last night, so it should be a fairly simple adjustment to get his fastball sinking again.

A.J. Burnett, please don’t fail us tonight.
