When I first heard the news that Josh Beckett had been suspended 6 games due to his altercation with Bobby Abreu, I was a bit surprised. I was unsure that he deserved the suspension, as it was unclear to me that he intended to throw at Bobby’s head. However, my next reaction was: I hate Josh Beckett, so I do not particularly care whether he deserves the suspension or not.
This got me thinking about all of the Red Sox I have hated over the last 15 years. I do not hate all of the Sox players by nature. I never minded Manny and Nomar, and players like Varitek, Ortiz, and Drew do not bother me at all. On the other hand, I could not stand Pedro Martinez, and Curt Schilling’s motor mouth drove me crazy. On the current club, I strongly dislike Pedroia, Youkilis, Beckett, and Papelbon, all guys who portray themselves as gritty but are really just punks with gunk on their helmets. Beckett, in particular, seems like the kind of guy who thinks the world of himself, and cannot help but mouth off at the worst times. My top 5 (from worst to umm.. better than worst) would probably read Beckett, Schilling, Pedro, Papelbon, and Youkilis.
Which Red Sox have you found particularly loathsome? Who is in your bottom 5?

The guy I can’t stand most would be Varitek by a mile. Which loser baits a batter into a fight at the plate only to keep his catcher’s mask?! What a freakin’ loser. I loved how the Sux were gloating after the game that they “won the fight. Well of course U did, punks. Anybody can talk smack and keep their masks on. Next up would be Schilling with his toilet trap, Pedro with his throwing at people’s heads when he got hit – what a sore-loser – but then acting as if he has no idea what anybody is talking about.
I actually like Big Papi. Didn’t give a shit about Manny. The only gut on the current team who I really hate is Beckass as he’s always running his mouth.

Both Varitek and Youklis are homos. Papelbon is an idiot. Other than that, I don’t much care about any of them. Unlike most Red Sox fans, I concentrate on what my team is doing and don’t worry too much about anyone else. The reason Sox fans hate the Yankees so much is pure jealousy. They can’t stand the fact that the Yankees have been way more successful than their team for years.

My top 5 most disliked Sox are 5: Papelbon, Moron says dumb stuff for the sake of saying dumb stuff. 4: Jacoby Ellsbury: like most sox prospects completely overrated, he might be as good as they say but the next Johnny Damon-come on. 3: Beckett-Ego centric hot head who never takes responsiblity for a bad game or year(2008) 2: JD Drew wimp-winer and you just know could not care less about playing baseball. 1: Varitek-phony tough guy-overrated-and becuase he”calls a good game” the sox keep bringing him back.
