Robinson Cano and Damaso Marte underwent initial physical examinations this evening at George M. Steinbrenner Field. Yankees Team Physician, Dr. Chris Ahmad, examined both players.

Marte’s initial evaluation indicates left shoulder inflammation. Cano’s initial evaluation indicates right shoulder tendinitis.

Both players will undergo MRI scans tomorrow in Tampa.

Neither sounds serious, but we’ll know more after the MRI’s tomorrow. Marte claimed his injury happened while weightlifting, not pitching and thinks its nothing serious. Cano’s shoulder only affects his throwing, not when he’s swinging the bat.

I would love to say I’m not worried, but A-Rod thought it was nothing too.
