According to a filed complaint, a woman alleges Bernie Williams snatched her camera and hit her in the face late last night at a club in Puerto Rico.

From the AP:

A woman filed a complaint against former Yankees center fielder Bernie Williams for allegedly hitting her at a nightclub while she took his picture.

Officer Angel Nazario said the woman claimed Williams snatched the camera, damaged it and hit her in the face. The incident allegedly happened around 2:30 a.m. Thursday at a San Juan nightclub, hours after the Puerto Rican team beat the Netherlands 5-0 in the World Baseball Classic.

While Williams has not yet made any public comments, his manager,  Steve Fortunato, said his client “denies any wrongdoing.”

Fortunato released a statement today which said Williams accepted an invitation to be a guest performer with a local music act on the night in question. His manager also calls recent media reports “inaccurate” and said Williams intends to fully cooperate with authorities during their investigation.

I really, really hope there is nothing to this. Bernie is supposed to be one of the good guys.

Bernie pulled a Russell Crowe. Hopefully he’ll be cleared…

    • Brolga says:

Russell Crowe has NEVER hit a woman. Give the guy a break. The only reason the phone came into contact with flesh was because the guy moved! I don’t know Bernie Williams as I’m not from the USA, but I would hope no decent man would hit a woman for any reason.

  3. Liz says:

    Check your facts.
Crowe has NEVER hit a woman.

    • Chris H. says:

Oh, I’m sorry, what did he do, throw a phone at a guy?

If you’re a devout ET follower, I’m sorry if I offended you (this is sarcasm, here).

  4. Brolga says:

He actually threw the phone at the wall, it bounced off and hit the guy. The reports of the ‘damage’ to his face were totally OTT. They said he needed four stitches, but the skin wasn’t even broken. I don’t condone what he did, but if it were anyone else the press wouldn’t have made such a meal of it, and the clerk wouldn’t have seen dollar signs before his eyes. The phones had been troublesome all the week, and you would think that the hotel would have done something about it when you consider how much money they made out of Mr. Crowe and his party, who had NINE rooms, some of them suites.

Mr. Crowe is a brilliant actor, possibly the best of his time, a devoted husband and father, does a LOT for charity without making a big deal of it, but all the press, and others, ever want to talk about is the phone ‘incident’ or his weight.
