Hating Jimmy Rollins.

MIAMI – Everybody knows how much Jimmy Rollins loves to beat the Mets. His world champion Phillies are the team to beat but Rollins’ ultimate baseball dream is to beat both New York teams in the same season.

Whip the Mets in the NL East or in the NLCS, then topple the Yankees in the World Series; New York, New York.

“That would be the sickest,” Rollins told me yesterday as he sat in the third-base dugout after Team USA’s practice at Dolphin Stadium. “That’s something for the history books, Philadelphia knocking off two New York teams. I might retire. I mean, what else can I do after that?”

We have 3 games at home with the Phils in May.

  1. JD says:

Love to have him on our team and I love that the Phillies nail the Mets every year. I will NEVER have anything in common with Mets fans.

On to a more important topic, is it possible that Montero can hit MLB pitching right now? Why won’t the Yankees give him a few games now?

  2. Moshe Mandel says:

Eh, let the guy yap, he won the World Series. If you talk and deliver, you earn that right.

  3. I don’t see why that statement would cause Yankee fans to hate him. To me he’s kind of showing his respect for the Yankees because he knows beating them would be more special than being some second rate team.

He’s saying he hates NY so much, he’d like to beat BOTH teams, not just the Mets.
