Mike A. of River Ave Blues posted his honorable mentions for the spring top-30 prospect list. Its definitely worth a look.

Mike and I pretty much agree on everything here, though I rate Kyle Higashioka a little higher. A lot of people throw the name Kelvin DeLeon around like he’s the next Jose Tabata. Be a little skeptical about DeLeon for now – he doesn’t have the physical talent or early success of Tabata, although he has tremendous potential as a power hitter.

If you could “project” DeLeon, what big-league hitter would he resemble (if it came together for him)? I used to hear people say that Tabata would be similar to Manny Ramirez, however, I doubt that’s the case since the Yankees sent him to Pittsburgh for Marte and Nady (although they do seem to be similar in that they’re both strange and unpredictable).

I think alot of the Manny comparisons were because of his attitude problems.

DeLeon needs to drop that K% a bit before I jump on the bandwagon. I am a big Turley fan.

Yeah, right now he is just a powerful kid swinging with his eyes shut. I think patience is the hardest thing to teach.

    Chris,

Adam Dunn in many ways. Lots of power, probably could eventually take his walks, but terrible defense and batting average.
