UPDATE 2:20 p.m.

According to ESPN, Rodriguez admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs beginning in 2001 but said he has not used them since 2003, his final year with the Texas Rangers. The full interview is set to air at 6:00 p.m. with several television teasers slated throughout the day.

Several news outlets, including the NY Daily News’ Bob Raissman, report Alex Rodriguez is expected to give his first public comments since news broke Saturday morning that he allegedly tested positive for two different types of steroids.

The next words out of Alex Rodriguez’s mouth, the first since he was outed for steroids use by Sports Illustrated, will set the tone for how he is viewed for what’s left of his baseball career.

He is expected to utter those words on ESPN, probably later Monday, probably with veteran baseball reporter Peter Gammons.

There is no confirmation yet that Rodriguez will take part in a formal press conference, though one is expected to soon follow the Gammons interview.

Brace for impact…

7 Responses to A-Rod Admits PED Use

  1. Moshe Mandel says:

No matter what he says, he will be criticized for how he says it and what he chooses to say. He cannot win, ever.

  2. Anthony G. says:

I have a feeling this interview has the makings of a confession for A-Rod.

  3. Moshe Mandel says:

Yeah, he admitted more than was known, which is a smart move. He said he used from 2001-2003 due to pressure to live up to his contract, but has been clean since.

  4. Anthony G. says:

    Yup. I updated at 2:20.

I think this was his best move and it took some guts.

Good he made the best of a bad situation. He’ll probably hear more boos than usual for a few months but it will most likely blow over in a few months.

Unfortunately EJ, the writer of that post did zero research after – ironically – attacking the media for doing zero research.

His argument that primobolan isn’t that powerful conveniently omits the fact that A-Rod was stacking the primobolan with use of testosterone.

The author also shows his level of understanding – or lack thereof – by believing Testosterone cannot be tested for. There are natural and synthetic levels of testosterone which can be easily deciphered during drug testing.

I’m sure Floyd Landis can attest to that.
