Joe Girardi has announced that the 2009 lineup will most likely feature Mark Teixeira hitting third with Alex Rodriguez batting fourth. That’s probably the best configuration, although I think a Swisher-Alex-Teixeira trio would have worked, too.

Why would the Yanks want Swisher to get more at-bats than Teixeira. Swisher is a good hitter but is very inferior to Tex.

I understand the AB argument, but to stretch out the lineup and offer A-Rod a great form of protection, I think that Swisher in the 3-hole would work and Teixeira in the 5-hole would work. Swisher is a good base runner and he’s a great on-base guy which would serve the lineup well.

I will say that a healthy Hideki Matsui is more than fine hitting fifth.

Wow, lately you guys have beaten RAB to the punch on almost every post. . .

That’s what i’m talkin’ ’bout, dawgs!

If there was no such thing as Free agency and agents the batting order would read:

    Gardner-
    Jeter
    Damon
    Tex
    ARod
    or
    AROD
    Tex
